Romans 4:18-19

John Nunnikhoven

In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told, “So shall your offspring be.” He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah's womb.

Can you imagine the behind the back snickers from Abraham's servants when he announced that he and Sarah were about to become parents? And they waited many years before the birth of Issac. Isn't this akin to the ridicule that many of us experience when we first announced that we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and as we live it out? The world is not quick to accept evidence of transformation.

Today's readings in the Psalms:

Morning: Psalm 11

Mid-day: 119:129-136

Evening: Psalm 86
