Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
Sufferings to endurance to character to hope. What a progression! But the exciting part of this path is that the result is not shame but is the love of God poured into me by the Holy Spirit. This love is expressed as the righteousness, peace, and joy that is life in the Kingdom in the here and now. (Rom 10:11, 14:17)
Those in the world hope, knowing they won't, to win the Powerball. I know that my hope is a certain expectation that I am enabled to live out my life in the Kingdom of God. Now! Hallelujah!
