Romans 6:17-19a [2]

John Nunnikhoven

But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness. I am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations.

When an inmate escapes from prison, he does not become a free man, he is an escaped inmate still subject to the laws of the governmental body that sentenced him to prison. But he can be pardoned by the head of that body and thereby gain complete freedom, unfettered by any prior crimes.

Thanks be to God that He has pardoned me, and is creating that transformed heart within me. I am free, free I tell you, free to live, free to live according to the Word, free in Christ, free to serve Him completely and obediently. Hallelujah.
