Timothy 2:1-4

John Nunnikhoven

Timothy 2:1-4

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Lord, it is so easy to pray for those whose policies I agree with and so difficult for those whose policies or lifestyles offend me. But You do not allow me the freedom to chose or to insert my own value judgments. I am to pray for ALL people, ALL in high positions; I am to offer up supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for ALL. For Obama and his staff, for Leahy, for Saunders, for Welch, for Pelosi, Reid, for the supporters of Planned Parenthood, for the promoters of LBTG, for advocates of same-sex marriage, for the drug dealers, for those corporations whose business models are based on greed, for … It is a long list, Lord, help me to be faithful to Your commandment.
