Our readings in this series are from the book, What in Heaven Is Jesus Doing on Earth? Jesus taught us to pray that His Kingdom would come on earth as it is in heaven. Now. Today. So, how does that work? Today’s reading from pages 23 and 24 can remind us of what we already know, but too easily overlook:
Our Savior, while amongst us, taught us to
regard Him as a Sower, sowing good
seeds of the Kingdom everywhere He could
throughout the earth. The seeds take root, and through
their growth and flourishing, bring forth the good
fruit of the Kingdom – righteousness, the first,
then peace and joy. This good seed is dispersed
by Christ’s ambassadors. And so we should
be clear on this; we should be well rehearsed
in what such sowing will require of us
as we go through our normal day and trust
the Lord to work through us, creating thirst
for Him by who we are – our holy, just,
and righteous ways – and what we do and say.
Thus, beauty must increase in us each day,
for Christ is beautiful. And goodness must
mark everything we do; this is the way
that Jesus lived, and He works in us by
His Spirit for good works. And we must buy
the truth, and sell it not; each word we say
must anchor like a well-set nail, to try
the thoughts of men and test the mettle of
their souls. Christ’s rule advances from above
to fill the earth, as Christians glorify
the Lord in all we do and say, and prove
that Jesus rules in glory by His love.
