Psalm 125:1-2

February 15, 2012

A Song of Ascents. Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people, from this time forth and forevermore.

What a comforting realization—that I am surrounded by You, enveloped in Your arms, fully covered by Your love and shielded from harm by Your mercy and grace. Praise You, Lord Jesus. Guide me through this morass of problems and responsibilities. Help me, Lord.

Matthew 5:43-48

February 14, 2012

Matthew 5:43-48

"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

To love my enemies, to pray for those who persecute me, to seek perfection as You are perfect—so hard, a bar beyond reach in my own strength. Lift me up, Lord, fill me with Your strength and with Your mind. Only in You, Lord, only in You.

Psalm 124:6-8

February 13, 2012

Psalm 124:6-8

Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as prey to their teeth! We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped! Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

Lord, deliver Your Church from the snares of the culture in which we live and work. We have been set here to accomplish the advancement of the Kingdom into every corner of the world, keep us from being sullied by those we are called to serve. Direct our steps, keep us holy and pure before You. Our hope is in You, Lord, our hope is in You.

Psalm 119:133

February 12, 2012

Keep steady my steps according to your promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me.

Yes, Lord, watch over my every step for each one presents an opportunity to the Evil One to twist my ankle and cause me to stumble. But You are with me, Your rod and staff both comfort and protect me. Lord, give me the ears to hear and the will to obey.

Psalm 124:1-5

February 11, 2012

A Song of Ascents. Of David. If it had not been the LORD who was on our side-- let Israel now say--if it had not been the LORD who was on our side when people rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their anger was kindled against us; then the flood would have swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us; then over us would have gone the raging waters.

Lord, what a precious Psalm as Your Church faces attacks on every side. But You stand before us, beside us, behind us, over us and under us; You are our breastplate of hope and salvation; You are our strong and mighty arm if we will but heed Your word to fear and love You with all our hearts, souls, minds and strengths.

Hebrews 13:1-6

February 10, 2012

Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous. Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." So we can confidently say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?"

Lord, there are many who face daily persecution for their faith, even in this country that was founded as a Christian nation. The President and Attorney General are leading the charge against Your Church; Your Church is under attack and not even recognizing the danger. Sleeping and content, while the devil is preparing the siege works.

We do not hold marriage in honor, we hold mammon above You, we plan and scheme to ensure that our funds are sufficient for our wants; it is no wonder that we are unable to claim Your shield over us and about us. Lord, bring awareness to Your Church.

Psalm 123:3-4

February 09, 2012

Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us, for we have had more than enough of contempt. Our soul has had more than enough of the scorn of those who are at ease, of the contempt of the proud.

Lord, I have sworn fealty to You. I stand under the shelter of Your wings, expecting that Your mercy and grace will keep me safe and guide me through every attack, every insidious temptation, every scornful action from and by those who despise You. Lead me in the righteousness, peace and joy that is life in Your Kingdom.

Psalm 123:1-2

February 08, 2012

A Song of Ascents. To you I lift up my eyes, O you who are enthroned in the heavens! Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maidservant to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, till he has mercy upon us.

Lord, I renew my vow to seek to serve You without reservation or hesitation in all things. This cannot be done in my strength but in Yours; I am weak and willful but You are omnipotent and omniscient. Lord, I seek to obey You in all things, in every circumstances and before all the nations. I am Your slave.

Acts 7:54-60

February 07, 2012

Now when they heard these things they were enraged, and they ground their teeth at him. But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. And he said, "Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God." But they cried out with a loud voice and stopped their ears and rushed together at him. Then they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul. And as they were stoning Stephen, he called out, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." And falling to his knees he cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

Another example of unrequested forgiveness. And in the face of extreme harm! Lord, what impact did this have on Saul, was his rage (“raging fury” was his description in Acts 26:11) a response to the testimony of Stephen as he forgave his killers? Was Saul storming against the power that was revealed in this moment? What could drive a man to forgive his attackers at the very moment of his death?

Psalm 122:6-9

February 06, 2012

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, Prosperity within your palaces." For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, "Peace be within you." Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek your good.

Lord, bring revival to the Church in this nation. She is floundering, awash in the filth of the society is which she lives, unable and unwilling to take a stand for the Gospel of the Kingdom. Cleanse her, move in power through her to cause an explosion, an outpouring of love and obedience. Bless Your people, bring them to repentance and restore them to Your side as Your Bride.

John 4:21-24

February 05, 2012

Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. (22) You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. (23) But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. (24) God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

This is the Day the Lord has set aside for a Day of Worship and Rest, a Sabbath Day. But I am called each day into a day of worship, a day which is to be in spirit and in truth. The difference between the Day and every other day is that I am to separate myself from my workday activities and devote that time to resting in the Lord and worshiping Him. The workday is to glorify and honor Him in every word, in every deed; the Lord's Day is to glorify and honor Him in the presence of the saints gathered around Him.

Psalm 122:1-5

February 04, 2012

A Song of Ascents. Of David. I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go into the house of the LORD." Our feet have been standing Within your gates, O Jerusalem! Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together, Where the tribes go up, The tribes of the LORD, To the Testimony of Israel, To give thanks to the name of the LORD. For thrones are set there for judgment, The thrones of the house of David.

Lord, pour the Spirit of Joy into my soul, let Your Peace reign within me, cause the River of Living Water to pour from my belly to bring Life to all around me. May I be a torch of Love and Light to the world. Praise You, Lord Jesus, my King and my Protector.
