Realizing the presence, promise, and power of the Kingdom of God.

Mike Slay

As a mathematician, inventor, and ruling elder in the Presbyterian Church in America, Mike Slay brings an analytical, conversational, and even whimsical approach to the daily study of God's Word.

He starts out good, but then makes a clueless indictment of Job.

Job's view darkens.

Job is getting confused.

Job patiently makes his case.

Job’s friends “encourage” Job by arguing that God is always just, thus accusing Job of major sin. Job counters the accusation, and also notes that they’re not exactly comforting him.

He's way off base and totally sure of himself too – not a great combination.

This make his trials even worse, but sets up the coming lessons.

He takes the bait and starts arguing details with Eliphaz.

There's no point in pretending to be superman.

He prattles on poetically while Job writes in pain.

This is not the time and place for this kind of lecture.

He thinks this must be punishment for some specific sin.
