A PRAYER FOR LENT
February 21, 2024
O holy, immutable God, in whom your children trust and on whom your children depend,
We live in a world where the fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” People are corrupt and they do abominable iniquity. There is none who does good (Psalm 53:1).
We rejoice, however, that we live not at the mercy of these, but we your children rest in the security that “forever, O LORD, your word is settled in heaven (Psalm 119:89).
We rest in the security of your great faithfulness, O God our Father; there is no shadow of turning with You. You change not, your compassions they fail not; as You have been You forever will be (Thomas Chisholm).
We rest in the confidence that your plan to save us from our sins through Jesus Christ was made before anything in creation was made, so that our hope and trust is in the faithful permanence of your Word and promises.
You have the final word – the final “say” – and for that we give you praise!
