A PRAYER FOR LENT

“Abba,” our Father,
O how this name comforts us.
Abba.
“Daddy.”
A name that says you love us.
A name that says you have made us your own.
Our Lord Jesus called you by this name in his moments of greatest agony in the garden before the cross - in his awful time of suffering that revealed the depth of your goodness and love to us.
You loved us so much that you gave Jesus to suffer the awful consequences of our sin. Of my sin.
You did this, not because we deserve it, but simply because you love us; because you are merciful to us (Titus 3:4).
You did this to make us your children – so that we can call you our “Abba.”
And you placed your Holy Spirit within us as proof that we belong to you and have the right to call you “Abba.”
We love you, “Abba.”
