The love of Jesus for us.
John 13:34-35 NRSV
I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
Loving Father, you are the God of love, the depths of which no one can understand.
We offer our praise and gratitude for your unfathomable love to us in giving your “only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life (John 3:16).
Lord Jesus, no one has loved anyone greater than you have loved us, for “no one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13). O, the deep depths of your love!
You taught us that our love for you will be seen in our obedience to your commandments (John 14:15). O Spirit of God, help us to obey.
You commanded us to “love one another just as I have loved you” (John 13:34). O Spirit of God, help us to give love as freely as we have been given love.
Our deepest desire, O Father, is to love you in response to your love for us as we receive the great salvation you have provided through Jesus Christ our Lord, and as we live faithful and obedient lives to His praise and honor and glory.
