Realizing the presence, promise, and power of the Kingdom of God.
Crosfigell

Complete!

Is Christ filling you, and overflowing through you?

For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

  - Colossians 2.9, 10

Christ, coming and dwelling in the flesh, reveals this Godhead bodily, teaching and manifesting that He in Himself is the revelation. For He Himself is the fountain and fullness of grace, the truth of the symbols of the law, the end of the prophetic vision.

  - Eriugena, Homily on John 1.1-14, Irish, 9th century[1]

Eriugena might have added that Christ is the realization of all the promises of God as well (2 Cor. 1.20; 2 Pet. 1.4). He is the focus and fullness of all the Word of God (Jn. 5.39).

Jesus Christ is the fullness: full of grace and truth; fulfilling all the Law and the prophets; fully embodying the glory of God and His Kingdom (Jn. 1.14; Matt. 5.17; Heb. 1.3). Jesus is the fullness, as much as you or I could ever want or bear. He is the fullness, fullness of life, hope, strength, righteousness, peace, and joy!

And He dwells in all who believe in Him, so that we are complete in Him.

How staggering is that?

How utterly amazing to think that He Who is the fullness of God dwells by His Spirit in the mind, heart, and conscience of all who believe, operating there to purify and lead us into paths of unbounded righteousness, peace, and joy!

He is willing and able to do exceedingly abundantly more in us, more than we in our experience or power have ever dared to ask or think (Eph. 3.20).

But are we willing to believe, think, and ask Him for this?

Jesus is the fullness, and we are complete in Him. And through us, Jesus is working to fill all things with Himself (Eph. 4.10; Eph. 1.22, 23).

Do we dare to think of what this might imply for our daily lives, or to ask Him Who is the fullness to take us further into faith, trust, and obedience than we’ve ever gone before?

Do not take this question lightly.

We are so dull and so easily distracted or dissuaded from the Truth of Him Who is the fullness and Who lives within us. There is always more to know of Jesus, more to experience of His fullness, more to express of His grace and truth, more of His transforming power to make all things new in our lives – more of Him to meet more of our needs, alleviate more of our fears, and empower us for more fruitful living than we’ve ever known before!

But we must believe it. We must ask Him to show His fullness in us, bringing our completeness in Him to light. We must give thanks in anticipation and rejoice at the prospect of His filling us and pouring out through us in ways we’ve never dared to ask or think before. We must yield all to Him and walk with confidence the path He indicates if we would experience and express more of the fullness of Him Who is fullness itself, living in and through us.

WE ARE COMPLETE IN CHRIST!

Knowing we are complete in Him and living out His fullness, we can experience more of His presence, promise, and power to make all things new and to fill all aspects of our lives with His fullness.

Psalm 24.1, 2, 9, 10 (Foundation: “How Firm a Foundation, Ye Saints of the Lord”)
The earth is the Lord’s, as is all it contains;
The world and its peoples He daily sustains.
He founded it fast on the seas long ago,
And bid gentle rivers throughout it to flow.

O Who is this King, Who approaches our gate?
His might is before us, His glory is great!
This King is the Lord of all glory above,
Who comes to indwell us in mercy and love!

Lord, as You fill me, use me; shape me and guide me to send me, and let me know more of Your fullness.
