Worship is about God

A Kingdom Catechism

God tells us how to come before Him in worship.

Q 78: How do the redeemed of the Lord observe holy convocations?

A 78: The redeemed of the Lord observe holy convocations by gathering on the first day of the week, according to the instruction of the Lord, to worship Him in Spirit and in truth. (Acts 20.7; Ps. 50.1-15; Jn. 4.24)

Worship is about God. He sets the parameters and prescribes the forms for worship. He calls His people to come together regularly to worship Him, and to prepare their hearts in gratitude and adoration for this holy assembly. The ceremonial laws of ancient Israel can be very instructive in thinking about the kind of pattern of worship God has established, and that He expects us to follow. We may not worship God just any way we like, depending on what we find agreeable, convenient, or acceptable to those who do not know but may be “seeking” the Lord. Worship is about God, and God has instructed us concerning how to conduct our convocations so that we may participate in Him, know Him in His glory, and offer Him the worship, in the splendor of holiness, which is His due.
