Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.

It stands to reason that the subject of Biblical worldview would be of interest primarily to Christians.

But as Christians begin to live their Biblical worldview more consistently, an interesting thing happens: People around them start to notice (1 Pet. 3:15).

They see a new confidence in our demeanor. Hear kindness in our words. Observe our patience. Experience our peace. We’re no longer irritable, short with people, merely frivolous, or cynical. Instead, what people see and hear in us is hope, working its way into our souls and out in our lives.

The Spirit of God is working with the Word of God to form us into the image of the Son of God – beginning with the Law and commandments of God. And that transformation becomes the Good Life expressed in all our relationships, roles, and responsibilities.

What’s that? You don’t see this happening much in your own life?

Well, as the Apostle Paul might say, “Examine yourself” (2 Cor. 13.5). Are you sure you know Jesus, that is that you love Jesus, as He is revealed to us in God’s Word? Or is Jesus just Someone you believe in? But what does “believe in” mean if it doesn’t lead to love? And what kind of love can it be for Jesus that does not issue in obedience to His commandments?

The Biblical worldview is about Jesus and how everything in our lives and the vast cosmos points to Him, draws us to Him, honors and glorifies Him, enables us to participate in Him, and vindicates the work He has done for the salvation of sinners such as you and I.

If we truly love this Jesus, if we really do know Him, we will keep His commandments.

All the more reason for beginning our study of Biblical worldview in the Law of God.

If you love Jesus, learn to see Him in His Law. Then live out what you’re learning of Him in joyful obedience. This is Biblical worldview.

Live this way and you’ll know hope. And your hope will show.

And suddenly you’ll begin to discover that you aren’t the only person interested in Biblical worldview.
