Lived unto Holiness

The Law of God for Daily Meditation

Morning Meditation:
Leviticus 18.1-5
1Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2“Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘I am the LORD your God. 3According to the doings of the land of Egypt, where you dwelt, you shall not do; and according to the doings of the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you, you shall not do; nor shall you walk in their ordinances. 4You shall observe My judgments and keep My ordinances, to walk in them: I amthe LORD your God. 5You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, which if a man does, he shall live by them: I am the LORD.”

Leviticus 19.2

2“Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: 'You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy.”

What can threaten my pursuit of holiness today (2 Cor. 7.1)? How can I prepare to resist, overcome, and defeat these threats? Why is “living” so firmly connected to observing and keeping God’s Law? Where do I need to “live it up” a bit more? How might I do that today?

Evening Meditation:
Deuteronomy 32.45-47
45Moses finished speaking all these words to all Israel, 46and He said to them: “Set your hearts on all the words which I testify among you today, which you shall command your children to be careful to observe – all the words of this law. 47For it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your life, and by this word you shall prolong yourdays in the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess.

Leviticus 20.22-26
22“‘You shall therefore keep all My statutes and all My judgments, and perform them, that the land where I am bringing you to dwell may not vomit you out. 23And you shall not walk in the statutes of the nation which I am casting out before you; for they commit all these things, and therefore I abhor them. 24But I have said to you, “You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey.” I am the Lord your God, who has separated you from the peoples. 25You shall therefore distinguish between clean animals and unclean, between unclean birds and clean, and you shall not make yourselves abominable by beast or by bird, or by any kind of living thing that creeps on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean. 26And you shall be holy to Me, for I the LORD am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine.’”

Was my heart “set” on God’s Word and Law today? Did I live them boldly, robustly, and joyously? Was it obvious to people today that the Law of God is my very life? Why or why not? Looking back, can I see any of the ways of the world still clinging to me? What one thing can I ask the Lord to do in order to improve holiness in me tomorrow?
