Why is God so serious about the Sabbath – the Lord’s Day? What makes this day so special? What does it mean for me that the Lord’s Day is a “sign”? The Lord “wrote” the “sign” of His Day. Am I reading what He wrote, or what I want to read?
Evening Meditation
Leviticus 23.3
“Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day isa Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work on it; it isthe Sabbath of the LORDin all your dwellings.”
Exodus 34.21
“Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; in plowing time and in harvest you shall rest.”
Exodus 23.12
“Six days you shall do your work, and on the seventh day you shall rest, that your ox and your donkey may have rest, and the son of your female servant, and the stranger may be refreshed.”
Exodus 35.2, 3
2 “Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh day shall be a holy day for you, a Sabbath of solemn rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. 3 You shall kindle no fire throughout your dwellings on the Sabbath day.”
How can I plan my week to make sure I don’t have to work on the Lord’s Day? How can I plan the Lord’s Day to make sure I “remember” and “observe” it as a holy day unto the Lord?
