Creation and Murder

The Law of God for Daily Meditation

Morning Meditation

Deuteronomy 22.6, 7
“If a bird’s nest happens to be before you along the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs, with the mother sitting on the young or on the eggs, you shall not take the mother with the young; you shall surely let the mother go, and take the young for yourself, that it may be well with you and thatyou may prolong yourdays.”

Deuteronomy 20.19-20
19 “When you besiege a city for a long time, while making war against it to take it, you shall not destroy its trees by wielding an ax against them; if you can eat of them, do not cut them down to use in the siege, for the tree of the field isman’s food.20 Only the trees which you know arenot trees for food you may destroy and cut down, to build siegeworks against the city that makes war with you, until it is subdued.”

How will I honor the creation around me today? What can I learn? What will I see that should provoke me to give thanks to the Creator?

Evening Meditation
Exodus 20.13

“You shall not murder.”

Deuteronomy 5.17

“‘You shall not murder.’”

If I have hated anyone in my heart, Jesus said it’s the same as murder. Have I been guilty of any murder today? Do I need to repent of any anger or hatred toward others?
