What is it about the human heart, that we need so many repeated warnings against lusting for others? How should I apply these warnings to my life today?
Evening Meditation
Leviticus 20.17
“‘If a man takes his sister, his father’s daughter or his mother’s daughter, and sees her nakedness and she sees his nakedness, it isa wicked thing. And they shall be cut off in the sight of their people. He has uncovered his sister’s nakedness. He shall bear his guilt.’”
Leviticus 20.19
“‘You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister nor of your father’s sister, for that would uncover his near of kin. They shall bear their guilt.’”
Leviticus 20.20, 21
20 “‘If a man lies with his uncle’swife, he has uncovered his uncle’s nakedness. They shall bear their sin; they shall die childless. 21 If a man takes his brother’s wife, it isan unclean thing. He has uncovered his brother’s nakedness. They shall be childless.’”
Leviticus 18.20
“And you shall not lie sexually with your neighbor’s wife and so make yourself unclean with her.”
Clearly, God is not pleased with sexual immorality. How many people’s lives are ruined by unbridled lust? Tomorrow, what can I do to guard myself and my fellow believers against this temptation?
