Keep the Truth

The Law of God for Daily Meditation

Morning Meditation

Exodus 20.16

“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.”

Deuteronomy 5.20

“‘And you shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.’”

How many different ways might I be tempted to stretch the truth today?

Evening Meditation

Deuteronomy 6.16-19

“‘You shall not put the LORD your God to the test, as you tested him at Massah. You shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORDyour God, and his testimonies and his statutes, which he has commanded you. And you shall do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, that it may go well with you, and that you may go in and take possession of the good land that the LORDswore to give to your fathers by thrusting out all your enemies from before you, as the LORDhas promised.’”

Leviticus 18.24-30

“Do not make yourselves unclean by any of these things, for by all these the nations I am driving out before you have become unclean, and the land became unclean, so that I punished its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. But you shall keep my statutes and my rules and do none of these abominations, either the native or the stranger who sojourns among you (for the people of the land, who were before you, did all of these abominations, so that the land became unclean), lest the land vomit you out when you make it unclean, as it vomited out the nation that was before you. For everyone who does any of these abominations, the persons who do them shall be cut off from among their people. So keep my charge never to practice any of these abominable customs that were practiced before you, and never to make yourselves unclean by them: I am the LORDyour God.”

Deuteronomy 23.21-23

“‘If you make a vow to the LORDyour God, you shall not delay fulfilling it, for the LORDyour God will surely require it of you, and you will be guilty of sin. But if you refrain from vowing, you will not be guilty of sin. You shall be careful to do what has passed your lips, for you have voluntarily vowed to the LORDyour God what you have promised with your mouth.’”

Was I at all times truthful to God today? Do I need to confess any truth-transgression, whether against my neighbor or my King?
