The Upside-Down Kingdom
Welcome back! As we continue our exploration of the Beatitudes, I’m grateful to have you with me as we walk with Christ along the narrow way. May our time together deepen your love for, and walk with Christ, and inspire you to live out his teachings more fully.
Prayer Journal: Week 48
Every Christian needs a half hour of prayer each day, except when he is busy, then he needs an hour. (St. Francis of Sales)
Kingdom Reformation
Matthew 6:10 – Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
The Kingdom of God
A Hard Question
For eleven years I was privileged to serve on the Board of Ordained Ministry for my denomination. The responsibility of the Board is to work with people who are candidates for ordained ministry, helping them navigate their way through the long process. From assisting them in understanding God’s call in their lives to celebrating with them at their ordination, it was a rewarding experience.
Salt and Light
Character Then Influence
In his commentary on the Sermon on the Mount, John Stott reminds his readers that if Matthew 5:3-12 (the Beatitudes) is about a Christian’s character, then Matthew 5:13-16 is about a Christian’s influence in this world. I have always loved the words of Matthew 5:13-16, which describe Christian influence as salt and light. These words of Jesus point us toward the right balance of inward piety and outward action.
