Psalm 141:5a

April 27, 2012

Let a righteous man strike me--it is a kindness; let him rebuke me--it is oil for my head; let my head not refuse it.

Lord, You have assembled Your people as community to encourage, equip and correct each other. The latter is difficult for me to accept but accept it, I must, for these course corrections come from You to guide me along the King's Highway. If I want to stay in obedience to You, I must not only heed Your written Word, but also that which is voiced by the Spirit through a brother or sister.

Psalm 141:1-4

April 26, 2012

A Psalm of David. O LORD, I call upon you; hasten to me! Give ear to my voice when I call to you! Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice! Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips! Do not let my heart incline to any evil, to busy myself with wicked deeds in company with men who work iniquity, and let me not eat of their delicacies!

Lord, the temptation in the next few days will be to turn to the advice of men rather than seeking Your face and Your word. Keep me in an attitude of prayer, keep me seeking Your will, keep me ever before You and seeking those ways that bring glory to Your name. Let me not eat of the false and deceptive delicacies of the world but only of the meat of Your Word.

Ephesians 5:15-18

April 25, 2012

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,

A guide for today and everyday! To walk wisely and prudently in Your will, striving to make the best use of my time, and seeking to be filled with the Spirit. It is that Spirit-filling that enables the other conditions. With out it, I am lost and continuing in my self-will rather than Your will.

Psalm 140:12-13

April 24, 2012

I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and will execute justice for the needy. Surely the righteous shall give thanks to your name; the upright shall dwell in your presence.

Thank You, my Lord, for all Your blessings and guidance. You shower me with peace in the midst of maelstroms of turmoil and anxiety. You are constantly at my side leading me through the quagmires of doubt and confusion. You set a table before me in the midst of my enemies, covering it with the richest of blessings, . Surely Your goodness and mercy shall lead me all the days of my life.

Psalm 140:9-11

April 23, 2012

As for the head of those who surround me, let the mischief of their lips overwhelm them! (10) Let burning coals fall upon them! Let them be cast into fire, into miry pits, no more to rise! (11) Let not the slanderer be established in the land; let evil hunt down the violent man speedily!

Lord, I need an answer with regard to that outburst from Barry last night. Was that a warning that I am not to continue as guardian or was it a sign from You to persevere and seek to glorify You in this work? Reveal Your mind in this matter and in a way that I know it is from You no matter what the cost.

Psalm 119:42

April 22, 2012

then shall I have an answer for him who taunts me, for I trust in your word.

The answer in in Your love. Always and forevermore. Your love for Your creation and Your desire to restore it to its created perfection led You to come as a man among us and accept the punishment for the defiling and despoiling of Your creation. For You so loved the world that You gave Your only Son to redeem and restore Your creation.

Psalm 140:6-8

April 21, 2012

I say to the LORD, You are my God; give ear to the voice of my pleas for mercy, O LORD! (7) O LORD, my Lord, the strength of my salvation, you have covered my head in the day of battle. (8) Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked; do not further their evil plot, or they will be exalted! Selah

Lord, are we being sucked into the devil's maelstrom, was the entreaty to us a bonbon filled with the poison of the Evil One drawing us away from our calling to minister to the least, lonely and lost? Or is it a continued opening of the door of opportunity to bring the message of Your grace to our ward and her family?

Protect us and guide us in this endeavor.

Psalm 140:1-5

April 20, 2012

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. Deliver me, O LORD, from evil men; preserve me from violent men, who plan evil things in their heart and stir up wars continually. They make their tongue sharp as a serpent's, and under their lips is the venom of asps. Selah Guard me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from violent men, who have planned to trip up my feet. The arrogant have hidden a trap for me, and with cords they have spread a net; beside the way they have set snares for me. Selah

Lord, this is most appropriate as we enter into the next phase of the guardianship. There are forces aligned against us whom we fear are set on revenge. Our strength is in Your promises to watch over us and to send the Holy Spirit to guide us as we are called before kings and rulers. Fill our souls with Your peace.

1 Peter 1:6-8

April 19, 2012

In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith--more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire--may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory,

Lord, in the face of trials and tests, You are with me, guarding me and my faith, preparing me for for a life spent in praising You, glorifying You, and honoring You. You have filled me with an overwhelming awareness of the Love, righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit that is life in the Kingdom, daily life in the Kingdom; ongoing, never slacking life in the Kingdom. Praise You, my Lord, and Master.

Psalm 139:23-24

April 18, 2012

Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!

Lord, I know I am not a finished product, that there is still much work to be done to bring me into complete compliance with Your desires for me. Lead me, Lord, lead me along Your highway, the King's highway that leads to life everlasting, a life of knowing You.

Psalm 139:19-22

April 17, 2012

Oh that you would slay the wicked, O God! O men of blood, depart from me! They speak against you with malicious intent; your enemies take your name in vain! Do I not hate those who hate you, O LORD? And do I not loathe those who rise up against you? (22) I hate them with complete hatred; I count them my enemies.

Lord, it is equally incredible that Your Mind stands between me all enemies—whether physical or spiritual, guarding me from their evil intent. I am safe and secure from all alarms, safe in Your loving arms. What can man or spirit do to me?

Today's readings in the Psalms:

Psalm 139:17-18

April 16, 2012

How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.

This is incredible, Lord, it is Your thoughts that sustain and maintain me. Without them I would vanish as a wisp of vapor in the noonday sun. And that is an infinitesimal speck of the infinitude of the Mind of God. Beyond, infinitely beyond comprehension for every element from subatomic to galactic is thought into existence and its course directed by You.
