Parameters of Prayer

This course changed my prayer life.

It has been almost two years since I wrote for Men At Prayer. In those earlier articles I promised to share with you some ideas to help enrich your prayer life. I began by suggesting you read some good books on prayer, especially the works of Andrew Murray. One of his books was especially helpful and emphasized what was my second suggestion: see your prayer time as a ministry of intercession. That changed my attitude toward prayer as a ministry, not just a spiritual discipline I should practice.

Perhaps the greatest boost in my prayer life has been in taking the “Parameters of Prayer” course from the Ailbe Seminary. This course has made my prayer time more enjoyable, more powerful, and more consistent. It is a course that will help you realize more of the promise of prayer, so that prayer becomes a more constant and consistent part of your life.

I took the course in 2021 and it has not only enriched my own prayer life, but has led me to become an ardent advocate for encouraging men to pray and for discipling other believers in prayer. Nothing could be more important than for all Christians to understand the nature and promise of prayer, and to enter fully and consistently into this discipline, as often as possible.

The Parameters of Prayer is designed as an introduction to and overview of the life of prayer, to guide students into a better understanding, greater appreciation, and more consistent use of this great privilege and gift. So whether you are a veteran prayer warrior, or new to prayer, or somewhere in between, this course will be a great benefit to you and your spiritual growth.

The course uses a varied approach to teaching and learning. The assignments are designed to take no more than 10-12 hours per week, and this includes incorporating your study of prayer into your daily practice of prayer. The material is organized around twelve lessons that you can do at your own pace. The materials are free, although we do ask you to pay for shipping. There will also be a course tutor assigned to review your work and to pray for you as you go through the course. Go to the website below to check it out and to register.

If you are making resolutions or plans for 2024, include a resolution to take “Parameters of Prayer” course from the Fellowship of Ailbe Seminary. You will be blessed if you do!
