His Word in Each of Us

Think about the people you'll minister to today.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Colossians 3.16

Life Together
Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945)
“But God has put this Word into the mouth of men in order that it may be communicated to other men. When one person is struck by the Word, he speaks it to others. God has willed that we should seek and find His living Word in the witness of a brother, in the mouth of man. Therefore, the Christian needs another Christian who speaks God’s Word to him.”

This is fundamental: every believer needs other Christians to encourage, instruct, and admonish him from time to time. We can’t get along on our own in the life of faith. God has called each of us to let the Word of Christ dwell richly in us, so that we may be ready, in season and out, to speak the Word in love to our fellow believers. The more we work at unity of life together, the greater will be the opportunities we have to minister God’s Word for mutual edification. How are you planning to encourage another Christian today? How will your preaching and teaching equip and lead the people you serve to share the Word with others? Improving the consistency of the Christian community’s witness in the world begins with how pastors live, preach, and teach. Do we show God’s people how His Word in us can flow grace to others? And do we teach and encourage the people in our care to ground themselves in His Word, and daily seek opportunities to let that Word of grace flow to others?

How do you know when the Word of God is dwelling in your richly? What opportunities will you have today to share the Word with someone else?

Mission Partners Outreach
Pastor, here’s a great resource to encourage the men in your church in their walk with and work for the Lord. This six-month, stay-at-home mission training regimen will get your men praying and reaching out to the people in their Personal Mission Field, and will provide a free resource for ongoing discipleship training in your church. Watch the brief video introducing this effort (click here), then download the brochure, find a man or two, and get started equipping the men of your church for mission.

Kingdom and Church
What is the relationship between the Kingdom of God and the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ? How does the Church advance the Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven? What is my role as a member of that Body and a citizen in that Kingdom in bringing the Good News of Jesus to my world? These and related questions are addressed in our course One in Twelve: Introduction to Christian Worldview. Using videos, worksheets, study guides, and other resources, you can set your own schedule and study at your own pace through this free, online resource. I’m often asked how The Fellowship of Ailbe is supported. Our heavenly Father supports us through the generous and faithful gifts of those who benefit from and believe in our work. Does the Lord want to use you in this way? Please look to Him in prayer over this question.
