But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
“what you have...firmly believed...are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ”See the progression here, the order of events? To firmly believe implies the sequence, belief/trust/commitment/obedience/faith, i.e., becoming a disciple, that results in salvation.
It is not"say the Sinner's prayer, and you will make the cut." It is the grace of God which I am called to believe and center my life upon firmly. He, through His agent, the Holy Spirit, begins the process of transformation, once I become a willing participant.
