Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in the LORD. There are many who say, "Who will show us any good?" LORD, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.
As we begin the 2ndweek, mining the Psalms for hints of the LORD, God, the Almighty, halfway through the 4thPsalm. Not any sneaky little hints, but strong statements regarding His desires.
Look at the first sentence of this passage, no ducking the issue, but two strong verbs, “Offer”, “Put” Not a lot of wiggle room. Neither is there room for much debate regarding the objects to be offered and put. “The sacrifices of righteousness”, “trust in the LORD.”Straightforward, unequivocal, no room for debate. A couple of tests come to mind. 1) Is an action God-honoring? Then it is righteous. 2) Is a position I'm taking on an issue demonstrating reliance on the LORD's goodness and promises? Then it is dependent upon trust in the LORD.
