My soul clings to the dust; Revive me according to Your word Psalms 119:25-32

My soul clings to the dust; Revive me according to Your word. I have declared my ways, and You answered me; Teach me Your statutes. Make me understand the way of Your precepts; So shall I meditate on Your wonderful works.

My soul melts from heaviness; Strengthen me according to Your word. Remove from me the way of lying, And grant me Your law graciously.

I have chosen the way of truth; Your judgments I have laid before me. I cling to Your testimonies; O LORD, do not put me to shame. I will run the course of Your commandments, For You shall enlarge my heart.

Rather an ABA pattern that our Scribe chooses in mapping out his approach of drawing nearer in worshiping the LORD, God, the Almighty. He recognizes that there is a relationship between love and obedience and pleads for the LORD's assistance in reaching that goal. Could this be a passage that the Lord Jesus had in mind when He stated "If you love Me, keep My commandments”in John 14:15?

First he acknowledges that he needs the LORD's assistance when he pleads, “Make me understand the way of Your precepts”This is not some lighthearted request, He pleads, “Make me!”He needs to understand the pattern so that his meditations will be profitable.

Then some housecleaning. Remove that heaviness of spirit that afflicts each of us from time to time, give me strength and cleanse my mouth from any taint of lying or exaggeration. Then, he celebrates choosing the way of truth, leading to that last wonderful phrase, “You shall enlarge my heart”

Oh, Lord Jesus, that my heart would be enlarged for you.
