Voices Together

Blessed be the LORD, Because He has heard the voice of my supplications Psalms 28:6-9

Blessed be the LORD, Because He has heard the voice of my supplications! The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.

The LORD is their strength, And He is the saving refuge of His anointed. Save Your people, And bless Your inheritance; Shepherd them also, And bear them up forever.

Another instance where David finds himself erupting in praise and thanksgiving because the LORD served as his strength and his shield. John Piper points in Providencethat we are quick to curse God on the occurrence of a disaster but never remember to praise Him for the thousands of 'opportunities' for a disaster that did not happen that same day.

'Huh,' you say, “What's he blithering about now?” Piper's obvious example is blaming God for allowing a plane crash with major loss of life while neglecting to praise Him for the thousands of worldwide flights completed successfully each day.

If the LORD, God, the Almighty is in charge of all things, and He is, then we need to learn to be on our knees constantly praising Him for the smooth functioning of His creation.
