Psalm 72:1-7

Psalm 72:1-7

Of Solomon. Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness to the royal son! May he judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice! Let the mountains bear prosperity for the people, and the hills, in righteousness! May he defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the children of the needy, and crush the oppressor! May they fear you while the sun endures, and as long as the moon, throughout all generations! May he be like rain that falls on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth! In his days may the righteous flourish, and peace abound, till the moon be no more!

It is time to pray for the leaders of this nation, this state and this village; that they would lead Godly and peaceful lives, dedicated to serving in justice according to the precepts of Your righteous laws. Lord, convict each one of the wisdom of being obedient to Your instructions, teach them that they are in these positions of authority as Your appointed agents and that Your law defines rightness, goodness and justice. But more than that, Lord, for those who do not acknowledge You as Lord, bring them to that confession and for those who have acknowledged Your Lordship, fill them with a passion to obey You in all things.
