What shall be given to you, and what more shall be done to you, you deceitful tongue? A warrior's sharp arrows, with glowing coals of the broom tree! Woe to me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar! Too long have I had my dwelling among those who hate peace. I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war!
Resist the devil and he will flee from you. A simple statement, but the process of learning to resist is not simple, it requires being willing to lean on You and to turn to You at the first hint of an attack by the Evil One. I must be willing to take that sense of “I can do it myself” and humble myself, coming to You in meekness and contrition, seeking Your power to resist.
It is all a unit, Lord, the attitude of “doing it myself” rears its ugly head in all the projects I am involved with, in all the assaults of the devil, in my relationships with others, on and on. Fill me with Your meekness.
