I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God; incline your ear to me; hear my words. Wondrously show your steadfast love, O Savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at your right hand. Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings, from the wicked who do me violence, my deadly enemies who surround me.

Lord, my adversaries are not people who strive to oppose me but agents of the Evil One who attempt to blunt the power of Your mercy. If they can sway me away from following Your precepts, then they can point to me as another example of a hypocritical Christian. Lord, I must walk in holiness, in righteousness, in justice for Your Namesake, not mine. I must give You the glory in all circumstances.
