Psalm 12:3-4

August 20, 2012

May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that makes great boasts, those who say, "With our tongue we will prevail, our lips are with us; who is master over us?"

Lord, this is the case with Chloe's father, how do we find counters to his lies and false testimony? Where are the credible witnesses to demonstrate that there is no substance to his protestations of competency?

1 Peter 4:12-19

August 13, 2012

Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. (15) But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And "If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?" Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.

Lord, it seems that there are two tests I need to apply when faced with a trial of some nature.

1) Is this trial a result of some sin of mine? Have I been disobedient to Your Word and forsaken the guidance of Your Law? If so, I need to accept the consequences of my sin, repent, make appropriate restitution and seek restoration of my communion with You.

2) Is this a result of my faith or a test of it? If so, I am to glory that I have been found worthy to suffer for Your Names sake and continue to live according to Your righteous law.
