Convincingly, too.
In his JETS article, “The Theological Problem Presented by the Exactness of Daniel’s 70 Weeks,” Roger C. Young offers a fascinating and believable interpretation of the 70 weeks prophecy of Daniel 9.
He shows that, by reconsidering the beginning of the prophecy, the 70 weeks work out to the exact day of Christ’s resurrection.
A companion article argues for a more “approximate fulfillment” of the 70 weeks, but Young’s article, citing Scripture and ancient sources, is persuasive.
This is a good example of careful exegesis and competent use of historical sources in seeking to understand a difficult Biblical text.
