The Law of God for Daily Meditation

Morning Meditation
Numbers 35.22-29

22 “‘However, if he pushes him suddenly without enmity, or throws anything at him without lying in wait, 23 or uses a stone, by which a man could die, throwing itat him without seeing him,so that he dies, while he was not his enemy or seeking his harm, 24 then the congregation shall judge between the manslayer and the avenger of blood according to these judgments. 25 So the congregation shall deliver the manslayer from the hand of the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall return him to the city of refuge where he had fled, and he shall remain there until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil. 26 But if the manslayer at any time goes outside the limits of the city of refuge where he fled, 27 and the avenger of blood finds him outside the limits of his city of refuge, and the avenger of blood kills the manslayer, he shall not be guilty of blood, 28 because he should have remained in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest. But after the death of the high priest the manslayer may return to the land of his possession. 29 And these thingsshall be a statute of judgment to you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.’”

Suffer, and Do Good

September 27, 2015

1 Peter 4.16-19

16 Yet if anyone suffersas a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter. 17 For the time has come for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it beginswith us, what will bethe end for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 Now
“If the righteous one is scarcely saved,
Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?”

19 Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.

Fiery Trials

September 26, 2015

1 Peter 4.12-15

12 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 1 13 but rejoice to the extent you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when his glory is revealed you also may be glad with exceeding joy. 14If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer. or as a busybody in other people’s matters.

Gifted to Serve

September 25, 2015

1 Peter 4.10, 11

10 As each has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God 11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone serves, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Preaching to the Dead?

September 23, 2015

6 For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that the might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

Time’s Up!

September 22, 2015

1 Peter 4.3-5

3 For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles – when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. 4In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with themin the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you; 5 They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

Arm Yourself for Suffering

September 21, 2015

1 Peter 4.1, 2

1 Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2that he no longer should live the rest of histime in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.

To Conquer Yourself

September 18, 2015

Work out your salvation. Got it?

“Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7.12

Full circle

Beyond simply confronting cultural abuse and misuse, Christians must make a conscientious effort to restore culture so that it serves as a means and end to the glory of God by demonstrating the love He intends all people to know.
