Psalm 84:1-2

March 05, 2014

To the choirmaster: according to The Gittith. A Psalm of the Sons of Korah. How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD of hosts! My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.

Have you noticed that the Sons of Korah did not long to be out of here, no their longing was for the presence of the living God. Their focus was totally on the Presence and totally oblivious to the absence. So must I be, Lord, but so easy to become burdened with the woes of this world that I lose sight of the Yet to Come. Give me that vision that they had.

Hebrews 13:5

March 04, 2014

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

Not just free from the love of money, but free from love of all those things that money represents. His promise to never leave me nor forsake me is a promise that I will never lack for any necessity, my needs will be met and my spirit satisfied with the richness of His presence. Hallelujah.

Matthew 28:18a, 20b

March 03, 2014

And Jesus came and said to them, "...And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

What a promise, the Lord of the Universe, of all Creation, is with me to the end of the age. As the hymn goes, “He walks with me and talks with me” Never, never leaves, always at my side in the person of the Comforter.

Psalm 119:103

March 02, 2014

How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

How comforting are Your words to my taste, what comfort came this morning from Psalm 36, which reads in part (vv7-8) How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. (Psalm 36:7-8 ESV)

Sweeter than honey to my mouth.

Psalm 83:5-18

March 01, 2014

For they conspire with one accord; against you they make a covenant--the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre; Asshur also has joined them; they are the strong arm of the children of Lot. Selah Do to them as you did to Midian, as to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon, who were destroyed at En-dor, who became dung for the ground. Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, who said, "Let us take possession for ourselves of the pastures of God." O my God, make them like whirling dust, like chaff before the wind. As fire consumes the forest, as the flame sets the mountains ablaze, so may you pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your hurricane! Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek your name, O LORD. Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever; let them perish in disgrace, that they may know that you alone, whose name is the LORD, are the Most High over all the earth.

Lord, we are called to pray for and to bless those who curse and persecute us but it is hard, O, so hard. Help me, Holy Spirit to be on my knees to pray and bless those who are inimical to Your Word, who defy Your Law and seek to destroy Your people. Help, me, Lord.

Psalm 83:1-4

February 28, 2014

A Song. A Psalm of Asaph. O God, do not keep silence; do not hold your peace or be still, O God! For behold, your enemies make an uproar; those who hate you have raised their heads. They lay crafty plans against your people; they consult together against your treasured ones. They say, "Come, let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be remembered no more!"

Lord, I pray for those who are willing to sacrifice all for their faith in this country at this time. Those who give up their businesses rather than cater to same sex weddings, or rather than support abortion mandates, or refuse to support adoption by same sex partners, or who... Give them strength to continue their testimony.

Revelation 6:9-17

February 27, 2014

When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne. They cried out with a loud voice, "O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?" Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been. When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, calling to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?"

Even as Nebuchadnezzar was used as an instrument of Your justice and correction for the people of Judah, is the current administration and its supporting culture being used by You to bring Your Church into a state of obedience? But even as Nebuchadnezzar fell from power and was given a lesson in Your Awesomeness, will those who currently persecute the Church here and abroad be brought into submission to You?

Psalm 82:5-8

February 26, 2014

They have neither knowledge nor understanding, they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. I said, "You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; nevertheless, like men you shall die, and fall like any prince." Arise, O God, judge the earth; for you shall inherit all the nations!

Lord, I raise up our shepherds and teachers, that they would judge fairly and equitably; that their ministry would equip each member of their flock to go out as Ambassadors of Reconciliation bringing Your Shalom into the culture.

Psalm 82:1-4

February 25, 2014

A Psalm of Asaph. God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment: "How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked."

Will Your Church pursue justice? Will we provide succor to the weak and fatherless; maintaining the right of life for the unborn; rescuing those who are trapped in addictions; providing love and support to those who are victims of abuse? Will we?

Romans 13:1-4

February 24, 2014

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer.

I have to wonder, Lord, if the present hostility towards Christianity by the Administration is not something that is being allowed by You to chastise Your Church and bring us back to You in repentance? Are we entering into a season of persecution to bring us ot our knees? If we obey Your Word in ALL things, will You withdraw the sword from us?

Psalm 119:93

February 23, 2014

I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have given me life.

It is Your precepts that bring understanding and color to life in the Kingdom. They are the details that provide structure and cohesion to my life. Praise You, Lord, You are the Almighty, all-knowing One.

Psalm 119:81

February 22, 2014

My soul longs for your salvation; I hope in your word.

My salvation is sure, but sometimes my understanding and confidence in it wavers. Fill me, Lord, with Your presence, fill me with the confidence that You are in control of every aspect of my life; that I have no reason to doubt anything; You are the Over-comer!
