Psalm 89:38-45

April 10, 2014

But now you have cast off and rejected; you are full of wrath against your anointed. You have renounced the covenant with your servant; you have defiled his crown in the dust. You have breached all his walls; you have laid his strongholds in ruins. All who pass by plunder him; he has become the scorn of his neighbors. You have exalted the right hand of his foes; you have made all his enemies rejoice. You have also turned back the edge of his sword, and you have not made him stand in battle. You have made his splendor to cease and cast his throne to the ground. You have cut short the days of his youth; you have covered him with shame. Selah

Does this not describe the state of Your Church today? Ridiculed and silenced by the secular society in which it lives; having lost its voice in the marketplace of ideas and no longer able to work for the implementation of laws that conform to Your Word?

Psalm 89:30-37

April 09, 2014

If his children forsake my law and do not walk according to my rules, if they violate my statutes and do not keep my commandments, then I will punish their transgression with the rod and their iniquity with stripes, but I will not remove from him my steadfast love or be false to my faithfulness. I will not violate my covenant or alter the word that went forth from my lips. Once for all I have sworn by my holiness; I will not lie to David. His offspring shall endure forever, his throne as long as the sun before me. Like the moon it shall be established forever, a faithful witness in the skies." Selah

This is very interesting, Lord, a warning that Your people must adhere to Your statutes and commandments or suffer the consequences. When will we learn that Your Law outlines life in the Kingdom and when we defy it, we suffer and suffer and suffer. However, when we strive to live according to Your Commandments, life falls into place in a most satisfying fashion.

Psalm 89:24-29

April 08, 2014

My faithfulness and my steadfast love shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted. I will set his hand on the sea and his right hand on the rivers. He shall cry to me, 'You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.' And I will make him the firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth. My steadfast love I will keep for him forever, and my covenant will stand firm for him. I will establish his offspring forever and his throne as the days of the heavens.

Then, You in Your wisdom, sent Your Son to earth, to become as one of us and live among us as a lowly laborer and then exulted above all others as the King of kings, the Redeemer of Your creation, the One who restored all to Your Plan and who now stands at Your right hand interceding for Your people.

Psalm 89:19-23

April 07, 2014

Of old you spoke in a vision to your godly one, and said: "I have granted help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people. I have found David, my servant; with my holy oil I have anointed him, so that my hand shall be established with him; my arm also shall strengthen him. The enemy shall not outwit him; the wicked shall not humble him. I will crush his foes before him and strike down those who hate him.

You chose David, the one of whom is is said that he was a man after Your own heart, You exulted him from shepherd boy to ruler of Your people, You went before him, crushing his foes and establishing his kingdom. You gifted him with a power of expressing himself to You that has been preserved to this day in the Psalms and which continues to bless Your people

Righteous are you, O LORD, and right are your rules.

Lord, the only way I can know right and righteousness is to immerse myself in Your rules and take Your Law into my heart. Loving You with heart, mind, soul and strength is to know and love Your Word with all my heart, mind, soul and strength.

Psalm 89:11-18

April 05, 2014

Psalm 89:11-18

The heavens are yours; the earth also is yours; the world and all that is in it, you have founded them. The north and the south, you have created them; Tabor and Hermon joyously praise your name. You have a mighty arm; strong is your hand, high your right hand. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you. Blessed are the people who know the festal shout, who walk, O LORD, in the light of your face, who exult in your name all the day and in your righteousness are exalted. For you are the glory of their strength; by your favor our horn is exalted. For our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel.

Great is thy faithfulness, O God, our Father. Your righteousness and justice extend from everlasting to everlasting, there is no other exemplar of these. You are love and faithfulness; You are forgiveness and mercy; You are our shield and our bulwark in times of trouble; You are the One to whom we bring thanksgiving and praise. You are the Almighty, Jehovah Jirah.

Psalm 89:5-10

April 04, 2014

Let the heavens praise your wonders, O LORD, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones! For who in the skies can be compared to the LORD? Who among the heavenly beings is like the LORD, a God greatly to be feared in the council of the holy ones, and awesome above all who are around him? O LORD God of hosts, who is mighty as you are, O LORD, with your faithfulness all around you? You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves rise, you still them. You crushed Rahab like a carcass; you scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.

You are the LORD,God the Almighty. There is nothing beyond You; You are overall; the One who initiates; the One who causes all to be; the One who ordains and concludes; the One who foresaw all time and ordered all within it; the One to whom every-when is now, everywhere is here and for whom there is no future, no past

April 02, 2014

A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the steadfast love of the LORD, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations. For I said, "Steadfast love will be built up forever; in the heavens you will establish your faithfulness."

Here is our basic marching order—sing of Your steadfast love and to make known Your faithfulness to all generations. All I need to do is sing and tell my story.

Hebrews 11:32-40

April 01, 2014

And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets-- (who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. Women received back their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, so that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated-- of whom the world was not worthy--wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.

Lord, times have not changed. The stories that come to us of the heroic faith of many martyrs in foreign lands should shame our weak witness. We are afraid of ridicule while others are enduring torture, rape and imprisonment. Bring backbone to Your church.

Psalm 88:13-18

March 31, 2014
But I, O LORD, cry to you; in the morning my prayer comes before you.  O LORD, why do you cast my soul away? Why do you hide your face from me?  Afflicted and close to death from my youth up, I suffer your terrors; I am helpless.  Your wrath has swept over me; your dreadful assaults destroy me.  They surround me like a flood all day long; they close in on me together.  You have caused my beloved and my friend to shun me; my companions have become darkness.

Lord, news came last night of two dear brothers who have been sent out of state where the ability to make arrangements for housing, employment and support that are necessary before they can be paroled are much more difficult. Sustain them, Lord, that their witness would not be impaired, that they would continue to trust you for everything and that they would not lose faith in Your promise to never leave them nor forsake them.
