Does this not describe the state of Your Church today? Ridiculed and silenced by the secular society in which it lives; having lost its voice in the marketplace of ideas and no longer able to work for the implementation of laws that conform to Your Word?

If his children forsake my law and do not walk according to my rules, if they violate my statutes and do not keep my commandments, then I will punish their transgression with the rod and their iniquity with stripes, but I will not remove from him my steadfast love or be false to my faithfulness. This is very interesting, Lord, a warning that Your people must adhere to Your statutes and commandments or suffer the consequences. When will we learn that Your Law outlines life in the Kingdom and when we defy it, we suffer and suffer and suffer. However, when we strive to live according to Your Commandments, life falls into place in a most satisfying fashion.

Psalm 89:11-18

Lord, we, Your Church, are grafted into the line of David, a royal priesthood, a holy nation called to serve You by this covenant. We must be ever mindful of our relationship with You.

And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets-- (who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. Women received back their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, so that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated-- of whom the world was not worthy--wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.

Lord, times have not changed. The stories that come to us of the heroic faith of many martyrs in foreign lands should shame our weak witness. We are afraid of ridicule while others are enduring torture, rape and imprisonment. Bring backbone to Your church.
