Psalm 51:6-12

April 22, 2014

Behold, You delight in truth in the inward being, and You teach me wisdom in the secret heart. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that You have broken rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from Your presence, and take not Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.

You have purged me with the blood of the Lamb. Freely offered and accepted. My sins and iniquities You remember no more.

But Lord, the consequences remain, those stains and brokenness need bleaching and repair. Therefore my cry is to create a clean, new heart within me, to cut out the spirit of the old man and replace it with your Spirit.

When I don't listen and obey, I do lose the joy of Your salvation. Forgive me, Lord and restore me to Your presence. Lead me in the Way Everlasting.

Psalm 51:1-5

April 21, 2014
A combination of circumastnces has made it necessary  to republish a series of meditations and prayers from very early in the history of Voices Together.  Lord willing, I will be back on track with the 91st Psalm next week.

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your steadfast love; according to Your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, so that You may be justified in Your words and blameless in Your judgment. Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

It has been such a hard lesson, Lord, to realize and accept that all my sin(s) are against You only. It is so much easier to believe in my heart that an offense is against another individual, it is easy to convince myself that I don't have to apologize or even acknowledge the sin.

But You, but You, oh Lord, are the offended One. Yes, the harm to another individual must be acknowledged, repented and restitution made, but in all, I must come to You, seeking Your forgiveness in repentance. I must petition You for the tutelage of the Holy Spirit to reform and transform me.

April 20, 2014

Great is your mercy, O LORD; give me life according to your rules.

It is Your mercy that I have life in the Kingdom; it is Your grace that provides the rules that define where the boundaries of the Kingdom are; it is Your love that brought me into this scared place. You are indeed, the merciful God.

Psalm 90:13-17

April 19, 2014

Return, O LORD! How long? Have pity on your servants! Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, and for as many years as we have seen evil. Let your work be shown to your servants, and your glorious power to their children. Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!

Let me see the joy of my salvation, that my labors result in the peace that passes all understanding, in that state of knowing that I am serving in the sweet spot of Your glorious will. May Your Name be glorified through me.

Psalm 90:7-12

April 18, 2014

For we are brought to an end by your anger; by your wrath we are dismayed. You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence. For all our days pass away under your wrath; we bring our years to an end like a sigh. The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away. Who considers the power of your anger, and your wrath according to the fear of you? So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.

I have but two choices: to squander my time away or to pass it laboring in Your vineyard. Teach me through Your Holy Spirit to number my days in a way that develops wisdom and advances the Kingdom. It is only through Your Spirit that my wish to serve becomes productive in Your eyes.

Psalm 90:3-6

April 17, 2014

You return man to dust and say, "Return, O children of man!" For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night. You sweep them away as with a flood; they are like a dream, like grass that is renewed in the morning: in the morning it flourishes and is renewed; in the evening it fades and withers.

My life, in the eternal span, is but an instant in Your eyes but You know my every thought, my every action. Thank You for the love and grace that tends my every moment and gives me the opportunity to glorify You.

April 16, 2014

A Prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

An eternal dwelling place. Is this what You were referring to when You said that the Kingdom of Heaven is available to me now? If so and I believe it to be true, it means that I labor within Your dwelling place the Kingdom of God. What a splendidly appointed and equipped workshop.

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

Lord, keep me form the “good enough” syndrome. Help me to focus on each task, to execute each assignment as if You were standing at my shoulder watching every move. As You are but I need to be aware of Your presence and to never forget that every action is to bring glory and honor to Your Name.

Ephesians 5:15-17

April 14, 2014

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Lord, how do I spend my day? Do I fritter away precious time on FaceBook and specious e-mails? Do I organize and allot my time to maximize the time spent with You and Your Word? Or in pursuit of those tasks and ministries You have assigned to me?

Lord, I need help in being a better steward of my time.

April 12, 2014

Lord, where is your steadfast love of old, which by your faithfulness you swore to David? Remember, O Lord, how your servants are mocked, and how I bear in my heart the insults of all the many nations, with which your enemies mock, O LORD, with which they mock the footsteps of your anointed. Blessed be the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.

How much longer must we endure this life of apostasy? How much longer will you allow a Church which takes Your Name and allows, yea even encourages, the dishonoring of parents, adultery, abortion, incest, greed, covetousness, stealing, and lying?

April 11, 2014

How long, O LORD? Will you hide yourself forever? How long will your wrath burn like fire? Remember how short my time is! For what vanity you have created all the children of man! What man can live and never see death? Who can deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah

Lord, step in, bring Your church to a state of repentance, bring the fire that cleanses, even if persecution is needed.
