1 Corinthians 15:9-11

October 29, 2012

For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.

I, with Paul, am unworthy to be called a pastor and minister to the Body of Christ, for I was born into sin and lived openly defiant of the grace and mercy of God. Yet, God, through His grace, sent His only son to accept the punishment for my sin, remove the stain and set my feet upon the King's Highway. He provided His Holy Spirit as my mentor and to guide me into a life in the Kingdom. Praise You, the All-seeing God.

Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in your commandments.

I do believe, Lord, that Your commandment to pray without ceasing is good and right but how do I get there?  How does my life become one of constant communion with You?

1 Corinthians 15:3-8

October 27, 2012
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.  Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep.  Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.  Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.

Hallelujah, You are risen.  Incontrovertible, incontestable,  attested to by many eye-witnesses, You are alive and have conquered death.  "It is finished"  I am forgiven and restored to the Almighty.  I have been accepted into the Kingdom of Heaven and have been appointed as one of Your representatives to the Kingdom of Man.  Hallelujah

1 Corinthians 15:1-2

October 26, 2012
Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand,  (2)  and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you--unless you believed in vain.

"unless I believed in vain."  Lord, I know I am secure in my salvation but I sure know from experience that I can lose the joy of that salvation.  Praise You, my Lord and Master for the gift of the Holy Spirit to teach me and guide me, to remind me of all that You have said to me.  Help me to hold fast to what is preached to me.

Psalm 21:13

October 25, 2012
Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength! We will sing and praise your power.

Lord, Your strength  is a strength above all others.  It is complete, there is no chink in Your armor.  It is vast, there is no place in all creation that it does not reach and display its power.  It is totally effective, there is no situation that is not included in the all things that are under Your control.
I must be driven to my knees in humility and praise as my feeble mind attempts to grasp the enormity of Your strength and power.  Words fail, emotions fail, I am as a worm in Your Presence.  But You sacrificed all for me.  You endured shame that I might enter into Your glory,  Love beyond comprehension.

Psalm 21:9-12

October 24, 2012

You will make them as a blazing oven when you appear. The LORD will swallow them up in his wrath, and fire will consume them. You will destroy their descendants from the earth, and their offspring from among the children of man. Though they plan evil against you, though they devise mischief, they will not succeed. For you will put them to flight; you will aim at their faces with your bows.

I know, Lord, that I have nothing to fear if I trust in You and follow Your commandments. You stand between me and those affections that would harm me. I need to turn ever to Your Word, remain faithful in prayer, and seek Your will, to be able to live in the righteousness, peace and joy that is life in the Kingdom. Praise You, my Lord and Master.

Psalm 21:1-8

October 23, 2012
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. O LORD, in your strength the king rejoices, and in your salvation how greatly he exults!  You have given him his heart's desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah  For you meet him with rich blessings; you set a crown of fine gold upon his head.  He asked life of you; you gave it to him, length of days forever and ever.  His glory is great through your salvation; splendor and majesty you bestow on him.  For you make him most blessed forever; you make him glad with the joy of your presence.  For the king trusts in the LORD, and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be moved.  Your hand will find out all your enemies; your right hand will find out those who hate you.
Lord, when asked about my blessings, my mind always starts with the material, with the things that are seen in the here and now, but those are so fleeting.  Ephemeral! Poof!  A wisp of smoke and gone!
The true blessings are those that are eternal, the unseen, those that are the evidence of Your Presence.  They are the workings of the Holy Spirit to transform my life, the hungering and thirsting after righteousness, the longing for a closer relationship with You, the anticipation of being called home to You to enter into Your rest.  All evidences that Your Spirit is transforming me from one degree of glory into another.  Praise You, my Lord and my Master.

Philippians 2:9-11

October 22, 2012
Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,  and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Lord, what is it about the name of Jesus?  It is not some magical combination of symbols but it is the Person that is indicated by those symbols.  The Incarnate One of the Trinity.  The Lamb of God.  The Logos.  The Ruler over all things.  The Alpha and the Omega.  The Chosen One.  The Son of the Living God.  The One to whom every knee must bow, every knee in heaven and on earth and under the earth.  Every knee!

October 21, 2012

When I think on my ways, I turn my feet to your testimonies; I hasten and do not delay to keep your commandments.

Yes, Lord, when I think on my ways, I must turn to Your testimonies for guidance. I need the guidance of Your word, not day by day, but minute by minute to keep my feet walking along the King's Highway.

October 20, 2012

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand upright. O LORD, save the king! May he answer us when we call.

This is a point, Lord, where I fail--I trust in my own abilities to resolve problems. coming to You only after I have made a through mess of the situation. Then I cry out to You. Lord, forgive me for I sin. I sin in elevating myself to be a god in my own eyes, not admitting that I am a sinful man. I must trust You in all Things.

Lord, You did answer yesterday's plea. Thank You and praise You for Your graciousness to me.

Today is a day to raise Your name among the Gentiles. to shout Your praises to those who have not accepted Your offer of grace and mercy. Today is a day for demonstration to all of Your transforming power and to gently persuade those who hunger for salvation.
