Psalm 150:1-2

June 14, 2012

Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens! Praise Him for His mighty deeds; praise Him according to His excellent greatness!

Lord, this is a complete and consummate statement of praise; a reminder that I am to praise you where You are, for who You are and for all the evidence thereof.

Revelation 5:8

June 13, 2012

And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

Those prayers, those precious prayers. Am I doing my part to fill the bowls? Lord, forgive my laxness in praying without ceasing, for being an intermittent and squeaky voice in the chorus of praise. Change my heart, O Lord, change my heart.

Psalm 149:5-9

June 12, 2012

Let the godly exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands, to execute vengeance on the nations and punishments on the peoples, to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron, to execute on them the judgment written! This is honor for all His godly ones. Praise the LORD!

Lord, arm me today with the two-edged sword of praise. Cause Your praises to flow from me in word and deed in a never ending stream of praise and testimony. No grumbling, no complaining, no spirit of criticism, no ego-driven teaching and suggesting, nothing but praise of You and to You.

Psalm 149:1-4

June 11, 2012

Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song, His praise in the assembly of the godly! Let Israel be glad in his Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King! Let them praise His name with dancing, making melody to Him with tambourine and lyre! For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He adorns the humble with salvation.

Lord, to sing Your praises today, all day, without interruptions or distractions. To rejoice in Your presence, to live exuberantly in the Kingdom, to reflect the blaze of Your glory! This is my plea, this is my understanding of a day well spent, this is what I seek. Lead me, my Lord and my Master into this day.

Psalm 119:97

June 10, 2012

Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.

To meditate on the Law of God all the day is to keep it foremost in my mind as I travel through the day that the Lord has ordained for me; to allow it to be the former of my thoughts, words and actions; to ensure that it speaks through the Holy Spirit to my conscience and that the ears of my heart are attentive and responsive. Either to listen and obey or to ignore and disobey; the choice is mine, the power to be obedient has been granted to me through the Cross. Thank You, Lord.

2 Corinthians 4:15

June 09, 2012

For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.

If the purpose of man is to glorify God and enjoy His company forever, then it is incumbent upon us who believe to extend the message of His grace as far and wide as we can. We are called to make disciples to join us in praising the Lord.

Psalm 148:7-14

June 08, 2012

Praise the LORD from the earth, you great sea creatures and all deeps, fire and hail, snow and mist, stormy wind fulfilling His word! Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars! Beasts and all livestock, creeping things and flying birds! Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! Young men and maidens together, old men and children! Let them praise the name of the LORD, for His name alone is exalted; His majesty is above earth and heaven. He has raised up a horn for His people, praise for all His saints, for the people of Israel who are near to Him. Praise the LORD!

You are greatly to be praised. Praised by all the elements of the weather; praised by the physical features of the earth, praised by all animals and plants, praised by man in all his embodiments and praised by the people You have called unto Yourself.

You are worthy of praise. You are deserving of praise. You are the object of praise. You are the Supreme One; You are my God and my Father. You are the I AM.

Psalm 148:1-6

June 07, 2012

Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens; praise Him in the heights! Praise Him, all His angels; praise Him, all His hosts! Praise Him, sun and moon, praise Him, all you shining stars! Praise Him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the LORD! For He commanded and they were created. And He established them forever and ever; He gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.

Lord, all creation pours out praise to Your name. There is nothing in the heavens, on the earth, under the earth that does not proclaim the might and wisdom of Your creative Word. If I listen to the testimony of the progression of the galaxies; if I listen to the testimony of the smallest, most infinitesimal subatomic particle, all declare the glory and exquisite coherence of Your handiwork. The very definition of beauty is Your creation.

Today's readings in the Psalms:

Morning: Psalm 17

Mid-day: 119:9-16

Evening: Psalm 92

Voices Together is available as an annual daily devotional and can be purchased at the Fellowship Of Ailbe bookstore.

At once I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne. And he who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald. ... "Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created."

Lord, an exciting word painting of the Throne Room of Heaven, rendered by the one who was the disciple You loved. And like a magnificent Rembrandt, an interpretation of John's vision, limited by a human's language to express all the glories that his eyes behold. So, I , as I read these words seeking to absorb and integrate the vision, yet like John, am reduced to simply acknowledging Your worthiness to receive glory and honor and power for You are the One without beginning or end and the One whose word speaks all things into being. You are the LORD, God Almighty

Psalm 147:15-20

June 05, 2012

He sends out his command to the earth; His word runs swiftly. He gives snow like wool; He scatters hoarfrost like ashes. He hurls down his crystals of ice like crumbs; who can stand before His cold? He sends out His word, and melts them; He makes his wind blow and the waters flow. He declares his word to Jacob, His statutes and rules to Israel. He has not dealt thus with any other nation; they do not know His rules. Praise the LORD!

Your Word, a light to my path and a lamp to my feet, yes, yes, yes. But also, a solemn trust from You to me and to the rest of the Church. A trust, like unto the talents entrusted to the servants, that must be faithfully obeyed. Put to use, disseminated, proclaimed, lived, the seed that returns fifty, sixty, one hundred fold. I/we are the messengers with blessed feet. Let us not fail You, my Lord and my Master

Psalm 147:12-14

June 04, 2012

Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! For He strengthens the bars of your gates; He blesses your children within you. He makes peace in your borders; He fills you with the finest of the wheat.

Lord, cast Your favor upon that portion of Your Church assembling within the Springfield prison. Fill each one of us with a complete awareness of the working of the Holy Spirit within our lives. Give us the courage and the winsome works to take the message of grace and mercy outside the walls of the chapel and into the world beyond whether it it the living units or outside the walls. And fill each one with Your joy and peace.

Psalm 119:89-91

June 03, 2012

Forever, O LORD, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens. Your faithfulness endures to all generations; you have established the earth, and it stands fast. By your appointment they stand this day, for all things are your servants.

Why do I worry? Why am I concerned for the future? Why do I doubt Your promises? All I need to do is look to the heavens to see the stars in their courses, firmly set in their appointed paths, to know that You are sure, Your word endures forever and ever. And then I know that all things are Your obedient servants. Praise You, Lord and Master.
