Psalm 147:10-11

June 02, 2012

His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor His pleasure in the legs of a man, but the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His steadfast love.

Lord, I need to know what it is to fear You. I need to have that awesome Presence enter into the most hidden recesses of my soul and root out any offense to You. I need to be filled to overflowing with the Glory; that the River of Living Water would pour out of my being. Awaken me, O Lord, awaken me. I need the fear of You as the Polaris of my life.

Psalm 147:7-9

June 01, 2012

Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make melody to our God on the lyre! He covers the heavens with clouds; He prepares rain for the earth; He makes grass grow on the hills. He gives to the beasts their food, and to the young ravens that cry.

Nothing escapes Your attention; from the significant to the insignificant. There is immediacy, a You are doing this right now, You are not a clockwork god, but God of the present, of the now, covering the heavens, feeding young birds. And the in-between, the provision of my needs and the overseeing of my circumstances. Praise You, my Lord and my Master.

Psalm 147:1-6

May 31, 2012

Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting. The LORD builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the outcasts of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars; He gives to all of them their names. Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; His understanding is beyond measure. The LORD lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked to the ground.

Lord, as I was reading in Daniel 9 this morning, I began to get a sense of the great gulf between Christendom and the Church. Yes, Your promise is that You will lift up the humble, but first we must humble ourselves. Bring a spirit of repentance upon Your people. Bring us to see our pride and self-will, the many ways in which Your people have bought into the culture of the society; that very society that we are called to be Your ambassador of reconciliation but we seek to assimilate, rather than be counter. Lord, bring repentance. Bless us, our Lord and our Master.

Today's readings in the Psalms:

Morning: Psalm 10

Mid-day: 119:129-136

Evening: Psalm 85

Voices Together is available as an annual daily devotional and can be purchased at the Fellowship Of Ailbe bookstore.

Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. And count the patience of our Lord as salvation ... But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

How am I to be as I eagerly wait for the coming of the Day of the Lord? O Glorious Day when all the old will pass away in flame and thunder and the new heaven and the new earth will arrive in a blaze of righteousness. Diligence is to be my watchword as I seek to be without spot or blemish and patient in the service of my Lord and Savior. His peace in me is the seal of His indwelling, the guarantee that I am one of the Redeemed of God.

Psalm 146:10

May 29, 2012

The LORD will reign forever, your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the LORD!

You do reign, and You will reign; now and forever; to this generation and to all generations to follow. All things, all circumstances, all events from the interaction of two of the very smallest of sub-atomic forces to the movements of the universe; all is being and will continue to be orchestrated by You. You are the Lord and the Master of all.

Psalm 146:5-9

May 28, 2012

Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, Who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free; the LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are bowed down; the LORD loves the righteous. The LORD watches over the sojourners; He upholds the widow and the fatherless, but the way of the wicked He brings to ruin.

You are to be praised, my Lord and my Master. Your hand is overall and all speak of Your hand. It is Your hand that creates, Your hand that heals, Your hand that provides. Yours is the hand of justice and righteousness, the hand of mercy, grace and love, the hand of restoration and transformation, the hand of truth and freedom. Your Hand is the Hand of the Almighty God, the hand to be feared and revered. Praise You, my Lord and my Master.

Psalm 119:85

May 27, 2012

The insolent have dug pitfalls for me; they do not live according to your law.

Those who have determined to live according to their word seek to pull down and destroy me. Why is it, Lord, that misery loves company and cannot abide one who is living in the Kingdom? Why the traps and temptations? Give me strength to resist the Evil One so that he will flee from me.

Psalm 146:1-4

May 26, 2012

Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD, O my soul! I will praise the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish.

Now, Lord, as we face the collapse of the financial system, an elaborate system constructed by man, a present day Tower of Babel, it should be evident to all that we cannot put our trust in princes.

My faith must be in You and Your promises to me. To seek You first and Your righteousness and You will provide for my needs. That is a covenant between You and me. Praise You, my Lord and my Master.

Today's readings in the Psalms:

Morning: Psalm 5

Mid-day: 119:89-96

Evening: Psalm 80

Voices Together is available as an annual daily devotional and can be purchased at the Fellowship Of Ailbe bookstore.

And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only. Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.

My God supplies all my needs, every one, no just eking it out, but in full measure, tamped down and overflowing. In His time and when the need is necessary. He is a God of the necessary and sufficient. Sometimes that need is met by some part of the Body, at other times, He acts through secular agents but it never ceases to amaze me at the perfection of His timing and largesse. I must admit that sometimes I am taken aback and awed by His methods. I never would have guessed that a bank I had never heard of would be His agent in making possible the new lawn tractor that had become a necessity. Praise the Lord for His never failing generosity

Psalm 145:17-21

May 24, 2012

The LORD is righteous in all His ways and kind in all His works. The LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear Him; He also hears their cry and saves them. The LORD preserves all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy. My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD, and let all flesh bless His holy name forever and ever.

Lord, that I would spend my day praising You by remembering all the answers to prayer in my life and reflecting on Your glory. Release Your Holy Spirit in me to instill a constant sense of Your presence in me. Transform me into a child of the King, whose every thought is of the mighty, power and faithfulness of the King of Glory

Psalm 145:14-16

May 23, 2012

The LORD upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to You, and You give them their food in due season. You open Your hand; You satisfy the desire of every living thing.

Lord, as the kingdom of man crumbles around us, as kings and rulers scurry and scramble to allay the consequences of the moral collapse of the culture; Your people are secure in the knowledge that You are with us, to keep a troop of angels about us, to provide for our continued awareness of Your presence in our lives and to fill us with Your peace and understanding. Thank You and praise You, my Lord and my Master.

Psalm 145:10-13

May 22, 2012

All Your works shall give thanks to You, O LORD, and all Your saints shall bless You! They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and tell of Your power, to make known to the children of man Your mighty deeds, and the glorious splendor of Your kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations. (The LORD is faithful in all His words and kind in all His works.)

Lord, this coming together of Your works and Your saints to shout of the glory of Your Kingdom, to spread the story of Your power, and to provide evidence of Your mighty deeds and the splendor of Your Kingdom. This is a story composed of visible and audible elements that cannot be denied except through eyes that are closed and ears that are deaf. All can see and none can deny -- You are Lord.
