Psalm 119:157

August 12, 2012

Many are my persecutors and my adversaries, but I do not swerve from your testimonies.

Lord, I know that in the weeks and days to come, there will be many adversaries who will strive to swerve me from the Path of Righteousness; I know that it is only through the strength and wisdom of the Holy Spirit that I can continue to walk as befits a disciple of the Kingdom. Thank You, Lord, for the gift of the Holy Spirit to lead me into all truth and freedom. Praise You.

August 11, 2012

The LORD is king forever and ever; the nations perish from his land. O LORD, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more.

Lord, Your justice reigns. There are no hidden places for the evil One and his minions to escape Your hand of retribution, all is and will be set to conform to Your righteousness, all will adhere to Your Law and obey You or suffer forever in the pits of Sheol. Your people will rejoice in the glory of Your presence and in the purity of the Kingdom of Heaven fully realized on the new earth.

Psalm 10:12-15

August 10, 2012

Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up your hand; forget not the afflicted. (13) Why does the wicked renounce God and say in his heart, "You will not call to account"? (14) But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation, that you may take it into your hands; to you the helpless commits himself; you have been the helper of the fatherless. (15) Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer; call his wickedness to account till you find none.

Lord, in this day and age, it is not direct persecution that afflicts me, it is the more subtle arrows of the Evil One. Pride, lust, greed, self-centeredness, stubbornness, gossip, hatred, selfishness, the list goes on. Continue to transform my heart, mind and soul to conform to Your statutes, to reflect Your holiness, to bring glory to You in all circumstances, to fill me with the righteousness, peace and joy through the Holy Spirit that is life in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Psalm 10:8-11

August 09, 2012

He sits in ambush in the villages; in hiding places he murders the innocent. His eyes stealthily watch for the helpless; he lurks in ambush like a lion in his thicket; he lurks that he may seize the poor; he seizes the poor when he draws him into his net. The helpless are crushed, sink down, and fall by his might. He says in his heart, "God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it."

Lord, there are many in this world, many of Your people who are suffering grievously for Your Namesake. Bless them with peace and joy that they are counted worthy to suffer. Sustain them.

Psalm 10:5-7

August 08, 2012

His ways prosper at all times; your judgments are on high, out of his sight; as for all his foes, he puffs at them. (6) He says in his heart, "I shall not be moved; throughout all generations I shall not meet adversity." (7) His mouth is filled with cursing and deceit and oppression; under his tongue are mischief and iniquity.

Those who rail against Your people are exceedingly arrogant, filled with hubris and vengeful against those who trust in You. They trust in their own understanding, boast of their wisdom, deride the faith of those lean on You and curse You. Lord, bring them to their knees before you in humility and repentance.

Psalm 10:1-4

August 07, 2012

Why, O LORD, do you stand far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor; let them be caught in the schemes that they have devised. For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses and renounces the LORD. In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are, "There is no God."

Lord, it is an age filled with arrogant men who boast of their own wisdom and prowess, who are convinced that they are gods in their own right and power. Men who deride You and Your people as ignorant savages, weaklings who must cry our to a fictitious god to protect them. Yet, in their hearts, they know there is a God, a God of power and might who comes to judge the world and restore His dominion over His creation. Come, Lord Jesus, come.

Revelation 12:9-11

August 06, 2012

And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world--he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.

O, to look forward to that day, that glorious Day when finally Satan is thrown down into the fiery pit, the end of the power of the Father of Lies. Praise You, Lord Jesus, for You have been my cover and shield against these Lies, keeping me from harm. It will be finished—once again the Creation will sing in the joy of Shalom.

Psalm 9:11-18

August 03, 2012

Sing praises to the LORD, who sits enthroned in Zion! Tell among the peoples his deeds! For he who avenges blood is mindful of them; he does not forget the cry of the afflicted. Be gracious to me, O LORD! See my affliction from those who hate me, O you who lift me up from the gates of death, that I may recount all your praises, that in the gates of the daughter of Zion I may rejoice in your salvation. The nations have sunk in the pit that they made; in the net that they hid, their own foot has been caught. The LORD has made himself known; he has executed judgment; the wicked are snared in the work of their own hands. Higgaion. Selah The wicked shall return to Sheol, all the nations that forget God. For the needy shall not always be forgotten, and the hope of the poor shall not perish forever.

Sing praises to the LORD, the God of Zion, who is merciful to His people, snatching them out of the snares of the Evil One and redeem them. You call us out for a people of Your own, a ransomed people, free from the burdens of sin, no longer slaves bur free men, truly free from all unrighteousness. Praise You, LORD, God Almighty! Praise Your Holy Name.

Psalm 9:3-10

August 02, 2012

When my enemies turn back, they stumble and perish before your presence. For you have maintained my just cause; you have sat on the throne, giving righteous judgment. You have rebuked the nations; you have made the wicked perish; you have blotted out their name forever and ever. The enemy came to an end in everlasting ruins; their cities you rooted out; the very memory of them has perished. But the LORD sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for justice, and he judges the world with righteousness; he judges the peoples with uprightness. The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.

You are my stronghold, You keep me safe from the onslaughts of the Evil One, You stand between me and sin, You strengthen me and empower me to resist the enemy, You cannot forsake me. I am Yours, now and forever. Praise Your Holy Name!

To the choirmaster: according to Muth-labben. A Psalm of David. I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

  • You provided the Spirit of Truth to lead me along that Path.
