A Song of Ascents. Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in his ways!

O, the blessing to be one who walks in Your ways! To truly fear You, trembling in Your presence, prone with face pressed to the ground, speechless in the magnificence of Your beauty, awestruck at the depth and breadth of Your grace and mercy! O, Lord, that these blessings would be mine, reveal Yourself to me. “I want to see Jesus.”

Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.

I will have a few minutes this morning to speak to the children of the church; Lord imbue me with Your words, provide me with the right words to get them to understand the truth of Philippians 4:4-7; that this passage does indeed frame a way of life that satisfies and is pleasing unto You.

A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.

Vanity, all is vanity, saith the Lord. All my fussing and toil is without results, without results that are real and of value in advancing the Kingdom unless I am laboring within the revealing light of Your Will and Word.

Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Lord, what more can I ask? What more do I want? Your hand upon my life to direct me and equip me; to enable me to do all things for You. Praise You, my Lord and Savior.

Restore our fortunes, O LORD, like streams in the Negeb! Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy! He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.

As the Redeemed of the Lord, send us out to be the Ambassadors of Reconciliation that You have called us to be in every aspect of our lives. Lord, we are equipped but we lack resolve, we do not live the courage of our convictions; give us the burning passion, the fire in the belly to preach You--crucified and risen.

A Song of Ascents. When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them." The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad.

You have indeed done great things for Your people, You have, through the Great Sacrifice, restored us to the Kingdom of Heaven; we are the great pearl, bought at a great Price and made fit for Your presence. You have done great things for us, we are the Redeemed.

And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Lord, that Your people would truly take this to heart; first seeking to become Your disciples themselves and then being obedient to make disciples of all nations. That Your Church would seek to live lives that glorify You, forsaking those idols of the world and bringing You into the center of their lives. Help us, Lord, forgive us of our great sin, we have not turned from idols to worship the living God.

What an encouraging set of Scriptures as I face the flow and ebb of life, the challenges and the tests, the trials and tribulations, yea, even the successes and praise; I must always focus on the Hand of God in these “all things,” remembering that it is His love at work shaping and forming me to His Will according to His purpose. I must always be in an attitude of thanksgiving, praising You for Your grace, mercy and love.
