Psalm 121:5-8

February 03, 2012

The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

Lord, what a promise of protection and comfort. A mighty Shield to stand between me and all evil, a never failing Atlas to guide my way through the Kingdom, a Screen to protect me from heat and cold, a loving Savior whose love does not stop with the sacrifice that cleansed me but continues on day by day to change me into His likeness. Praise You, my Lord and Master, my King. To You be glory and praise forevermore.

Psalm 121:1-4

February 02, 2012

A Song of Ascents. I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

The first weapon that You give to me is Your constancy. You are always with me even when I do not pay any attention to the gentle, still voice of the Spirit liming the way. Help me, Lord, in my inattention as only You can do.

2 Corinthians 10:3-4

February 01, 2012

For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.

Lord, it is the innate tendency of the old man to cling to those weapons which he has devised to address problem of perceived injustice, etc. However, You provide not only weapons with the power to destroy strongholds, but the wisdom to recognize that which is counter to Your Word.

Psalm 120:3-7

January 31, 2012

What shall be given to you, and what more shall be done to you, you deceitful tongue? A warrior's sharp arrows, with glowing coals of the broom tree! Woe to me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar! Too long have I had my dwelling among those who hate peace. I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war!

Resist the devil and he will flee from you. A simple statement, but the process of learning to resist is not simple, it requires being willing to lean on You and to turn to You at the first hint of an attack by the Evil One. I must be willing to take that sense of “I can do it myself” and humble myself, coming to You in meekness and contrition, seeking Your power to resist.

It is all a unit, Lord, the attitude of “doing it myself” rears its ugly head in all the projects I am involved with, in all the assaults of the devil, in my relationships with others, on and on. Fill me with Your meekness.

Psalm 120:1-2

January 30, 2012

A Song of Ascents. In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. Deliver me, O LORD, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.

Lord, in the course of my day, I face many deceitful spirits in the form of articles, e-mails, conversations, and even through my eyes. Put a shield around me, give me discernment to see through the temptations and wiles of the devil, give me the willingness to listen to the quiet and gentle leading of the Holy Spirit in these matters.

Thank You for Your promise that He will lead me into all truth. What a comfort that promise is to me.

Psalm 119:128

January 29, 2012

Psalm 119:128

Therefore I consider all your precepts to be right; I hate every false way.

False ways -- false gospels. They abound, Lord, and multiply. Always the substitution of my way, my understanding for Your way, Your revelation in Your Word. It is always a taking of "thus saith the Lord" and replacing it with "I say, I believe," in ways that are counter to Your Word.

Philippians 4:4-7

Philippians 4:4-7

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Two instructions with a single resultant: Rejoice and pray and the peace of God will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 118:22-29

January 27, 2012

Psalm 118:22-29

The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is the LORD's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Save us, we pray, O LORD! O LORD, we pray, give us success! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD! We bless you from the house of the LORD. The LORD is God, and he has made his light to shine upon us. Bind the festal sacrifice with cords, up to the horns of the altar! You are my God, and I will give thanks to you; you are my God; I will extol you. Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!

O, that all men would recognize that the rejected cornerstone is the Son of God, the Creator and ruler of all. That the cry of all men would be, “Blessed is he who comes in the Name of the Lord.” O, Lord, bring repentance and entrance into the Kingdom to all men. Open the heart of Man to the gift of restoration and transformation.

Psalm 118:15-21

Psalm 118:15-21

Glad songs of salvation are in the tents of the righteous: "The right hand of the LORD does valiantly, the right hand of the LORD exalts, the right hand of the LORD does valiantly!" I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the LORD. The LORD has disciplined me severely, but he has not given me over to death. Open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter through them and give thanks to the LORD. This is the gate of the LORD; the righteous shall enter through it. I thank you that you have answered me and have become my salvation.

You, You alone, are the source of my salvation. You, You alone, are the One who paid the penalty of my sin and made me fit for the Presence. You, You alone, are the One who stands at the right-hand of God interceding on my behalf. You, You alone, sent the Holy Spirit to be my Comforter and Teacher. You, You alone, are my Lord and Master. You, You alone, are the Truth, the Way and the Life; there is no other name given among man whereby I might be saved.

Mid-day: 119:1-8

Evening: Psalm 108

Psalm 118:5-14

January 25, 2012

Psalm 118:5-14

Out of my distress I called on the LORD; the LORD answered me and set me free. The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? The LORD is on my side as my helper; I shall look in triumph on those who hate me. It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes. All nations surrounded me; in the name of the LORD I cut them off! They surrounded me, surrounded me on every side; in the name of the LORD I cut them off! They surrounded me like bees; they went out like a fire among thorns; in the name of the LORD I cut them off! I was pushed hard, so that I was falling, but the LORD helped me. The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.

Lord, You are my refuge against all the assaults of man and devil. When it seems that I must bend under the load and the attacks, You remind me that You are my strength and shield; that I only have to turn to You and find peace and guidance. It is according to Your Word that I must order my life; it is according to Your Word that I must trust for all knowledge and wisdom. You have set my feet upon a level and broad path. I must trust You in all things.

Mid-day: 119:169-176

Psalm 118:1-4

January 24, 2012

Psalm 118:1-4

Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! Let Israel say, "His steadfast love endures forever." Let the house of Aaron say, "His steadfast love endures forever." Let those who fear the LORD say, "His steadfast love endures forever."

Steadfast love endures forever. Your steadfast love endures forever. You are steadfast love. There is no shadow of turning with You, You are steadfast in Your love. Your steadfast love never wavers, it never swerves from the objects of Your steadfast love; its intensity never flags. It is the ultimate definition of steadfast love by which the constancy of all things must be measured.

Matthew 21:9, 42-44

January 23, 2012

Matthew 21:9, 42-44

And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!" ... Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: "'The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes'? (43) Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits. (44) And the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him."

Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna in the highest! Praise you, Lord, for You provide salvation! There is no other Name, given among men, whereby we must be saved. Hosanna in the highest! May my fruit be ripe and succulent.
