Psalm 110:7-10

December 29, 2011

Psalm 110:7-10

The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy; they are established forever and ever, to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness. He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant forever. Holy and awesome is his name! The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!

Thank You, LORD God Almighty, for Your wisdom, given to me through Your Word. It is sufficient, it is necessary, it is complete for all matters of life and salvation. Do not let me stray from the practice that will lead me into all understanding.

Psalm 111:1-6

December 28, 2011

Psalm 111:1-6

Praise the LORD! I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. Great are the works of the LORD, studied by all who delight in them. Full of splendor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever. He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and merciful. He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever. He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the inheritance of the nations.

Lord, yesterday was an example of Your work and faithfulness to your people as Your Spirit led Betty through the turmoil involved with getting MW transferred from DMHC to a rehab facility. Thank You for giving her peace and guidance every step of the way. May the holiness of Your Name be evident to all.

John 1:6-8

December 27, 2011

John 1:6-8

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.

There is a man sent from God whose name is John.

God anointed John of Chester with the Holy Spirit and with power. He has been sent about to do good and heal those who are oppressed by the devil, for God is with him. [paraphrase of Acts 10:38]

Psalm 110:5-7

The Lord is at your right hand; he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath. He will execute judgment among the nations, filling them with corpses; he will shatter chiefs over the wide earth. He will drink from the brook by the way; therefore he will lift up his head.

The Day of Your Wrath is coming, Lord. The Father knows and has set the day and the hour, but not revealed it to us. Fire up Your Church to fervently carry the message of the love of God to all peoples and nations.

Isaiah 9:6-7

December 25, 2011

Isaiah 9:6-7

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. (KJV)

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

The One who is Wonderful Counselor, The Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace has come to us as God Incarnate, to live, to die, to rise again and ascend to the Father's right hand. Let Your praises be ever in our mouths.

Psalm 110:3-4

December 24, 2011

Psalm 110:3-4

Your people will offer themselves freely on the day of your power, in holy garments; from the womb of the morning, the dew of your youth will be yours. The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind, "You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek."

Lord, You have put Your disciples in this world, in this society, in this culture for a single purpose: that Your name will be glorified as we go about our given task of making disciples of all peoples, all nations and all languages. However, we are proficient at telling the Good News, but we are deficient at living it. We are empowered to witness [Acts 1:8], but we refuse to pick up the mantle and go out in Your Name.

December 23, 2011

Psalm 110:1-2

A Psalm of David. The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool." The LORD sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your enemies!

Lord, all things are under You, all things are beginning to bow to Your sovereign rule, all things are preparing to acknowledge You as Lord, and then all things will submit to Your rule . Come, Lord Jesus, come. Let Your Kingdom reign; your people are anxiously waiting.

Hebrews 7:15-16, 26-28

December 22, 2011

Hebrews 7:15-16, 26-28

This becomes even more evident when another priest arises in the likeness of Melchizedek, who has become a priest, not on the basis of a legal requirement concerning bodily descent, but by the power of an indestructible life....For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself. For the law appoints men in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever.

It is indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest with the power of an indestructible life, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens. Fitting that, based not on my worth but on my worthlessness, God's love pours out on me, sending His Son to be the once-for-all High Priest.

Psalm 109:30-31

December 21, 2011

Psalm 109:30-31

With my mouth I will give great thanks to the LORD; I will praise him in the midst of the throng. For he stands at the right hand of the needy one, to save him from those who condemn his soul to death.

In all this turmoil and confusion, You, my Lord, are steadfast. You send Your angels to surround me and keep me from harm; You cover me with your peace and free me from anxiety; You lay out Your Law before me as a guide to all life; You have sent Your Holy Spirit to guide me into all Truth; You are the One who was, the One who is, and the One who is to come.

Psalm 109:20-29

December 20, 2011

Psalm 109:20-29

But you, O GOD my Lord, deal on my behalf for your name's sake; because your steadfast love is good, deliver me! For I am poor and needy, and my heart is stricken within me. I am gone like a shadow at evening; I am shaken off like a locust. My knees are weak through fasting; my body has become gaunt, with no fat. I am an object of scorn to my accusers; when they see me, they wag their heads. Help me, O LORD my God! Save me according to your steadfast love! Let them know that this is your hand; you, O LORD, have done it! Let them curse, but you will bless! They arise and are put to shame, but your servant will be glad! May my accusers be clothed with dishonor; may they be wrapped in their own shame as in a cloak!

Lord, let my only purpose on this earth be to glorify You and to show You in all circumstances and places. Let all who see me know that this is Your hand to bring peace and righteousness to all who wish to receive it. Bless those who curse me by bringing them to their knees in subjection to You.

Psalm 109:14-20

December 19, 2011

Psalm 109:14-20

May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the LORD, and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out! Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth! For he did not remember to show kindness, but pursued the poor and needy and the brokenhearted, to put them to death. He loved to curse; let curses come upon him! He did not delight in blessing; may it be far from him! He clothed himself with cursing as his coat; may it soak into his body like water, like oil into his bones! May it be like a garment that he wraps around him, like a belt that he puts on every day! May this be the reward of my accusers from the LORD, of those who speak evil against my life!

Lord, bring those who hate me to their knees to repent of their sins against You and to seek Your forgiveness. Let them be filled with Your overflowing peace and love that they will be transformed before the eyes of the world.
