Psalm 140:12-13

I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and will execute justice for the needy. Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; the upright shall dwell in Your presence.

Thank You, my Lord, You are my Rock, my Shield, Your Name is exalted among the nations. You are the Source of justice; You are the Restorer of Shalom; in You all goodness dwells and the upright find pleasure and comfort in Your presence.

Psalm 119:59-60

When I think on my ways, I turn my feet to your testimonies; I hasten and do not delay to keep your commandments.

It is a miracle, Lord, a miracle of grace and mercy as I think on my ways and realize where I was and where I am now. Life in the Kingdom of God is infinitely more joy-filled than life in the Kingdom of Man. You are the great and gracious Redeemer, to You I not only owe all obedience but am consumed with a passion to serve You in Spirit and in Truth.

Psalm 141:1-2

O LORD, I call upon You; hasten to me! Give ear to my voice when I call to You! Let my prayer be counted as incense before You, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice!

Lord, I call to you, I plead with You, fill me to overflowing with you, let my mouth drip with your praises as honey from a comb, let my every thought be of You and Your glories, let my heart be consumed with passion for You, let the eyes of my heart roam to and fro seeking Your presence. Bless me, my Lord and my Master with You.

Psalm 141: 3-4

Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips! Do not let my heart incline to any evil, to busy myself with wicked deeds in company with men who work iniquity, and let me not eat of their delicacies!

Lord, only Your Holy Spirit can be the guard of my mouth, direct my heart away for evil and control my appetite for the delicacies of the world. I have proven time and time again, that I am powerless, all too willing to succumb to the siren call of the Evil One. But in You, with You, for You will be goodness and mercy all the days of my life.

Psalm 141:5

Let a righteous man strike me--it is a kindness; let him rebuke me--it is oil for my head; let my head not refuse it. Yet my prayer is continually against their evil deeds.

Lord, keep me open to correction and to continuous guidance from You through one of Your own. Cleanse me from the need to justify myself and my actions, remove from me that self-defensive nature and install in me a willingness to accept that You have chosen a messenger to give me a needed word. Give me the grace to accept that guidance and to be thankful and bless Your servant. And to remember to thank You that You love me so much that You would send a righteous man to rebuke me.

Psalm 141:6-7

When their judges are thrown over the cliff, then they shall hear my words, for they are pleasant. As when one plows and breaks up the earth, so shall our bones be scattered at the mouth of Sheol.

Here we are, Lord, at a time when the financial underpinnings of the world are crumbling; the great god, Money, is proving to be nothing but gilded greed. How many of us, Your people, have set this false god above You, the one true God? May our hopes and ambitions that are built upon the dreams of avarice be broken and scattered upon the dung heap of materialism. May Your people turn to You and repent of their idolatry. May we praise Your name and bend our knees in obedience to You.

Psalm 141:8-10

But my eyes are toward You, O GOD, my Lord; in You I seek refuge; leave me not defenseless! Keep me from the trap that they have laid for me and from the snares of evildoers! Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by safely.

Lord, give me wisdom and understanding. Are there actions I should be taking or am I to leave it all in Your hands. I have complete confidence in Your provision, I have little confidence in my ability to hear You and to follow Your leading here. So I wait for clarity, do not leave me defenseless.

Psalm 119:71

It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn your statutes.

"Consider it pure joy, when you face trials of many kinds" O, how difficult that is to obey when I am in the throes of dealing with a test. I know in my head that it is good and that You are bringing me through a process of maturation, but my heart rebels. Help me to live in that deep seated faith that will carry me through the trial. Perfect love for You in me to drive out the fear so that I will live in total obedience to Your word.

Psalm 119:72

The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Joshua 1:8

Prosperous and good success, Lord. Is that not righteous and holy living? To live according to Your law is to live a life which glorifies You and which serves You. A life within the boundaries of Your law is a life lived within the national boundaries of the Kingdom of God. A life of joy in Your presence. A life with a prosperity that far exceeds the prosperity provided by great material wealth. Praise Your holy name.

Psalm 142:1-4

A Maskil of David, when he was in the cave. A Prayer. With my voice I cry out to the LORD; with my voice I plead for mercy to the LORD. I pour out my complaint before Him; I tell my trouble before Him. When my spirit faints within me, You know my way! In the path where I walk they have hidden a trap for me. Look to the right and see: there is none who takes notice of me; no refuge remains to me; no one cares for my soul.

Lord, there is no one like You to understand the depth of my fears, to see precisely how I have managed to get myself into the current predicament, the prison of fear and loathing that I have build for myself. Even when I turn to the ways of this world, You see and warn me of the snares set along the path.

Psalm142:5-7

I cry to You, O LORD; I say, "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living." Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low! Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me! Bring me out of prison, that I may give thanks to Your name! The righteous will surround me, for You will deal bountifully with me.

Lord, You are always with me; to listen and comfort, to advise and chasten, to protect and shield, and to arm and equip. You are my refuge. That I would never forget to turn to You in times of trouble. Teach me, Lord, that strength and deliverance is from You, not in my own skill and cunning.

Psalm 143:143:1-2

A Psalm of David. Hear my prayer, O LORD; give ear to my pleas for mercy! In Your faithfulness answer me, in Your righteousness! Enter not into judgment with Your servant, for no one living is righteous before You.

Lord, there is none righteous but You in Your great mercy have cleansed me from all unrighteousness. Praise You, my Lord, for You see me through Your Blood and You have sent Your Holy Spirit to lead me into all truth. You have heard and You have responded. I am Yours, Your servant; do with me as it seems good to You.
