Make your face shine upon your servant, and teach me your statutes.

Lord, it is a continuous process of learning to apply Your statutes to all aspects of my life. Your Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against You.

Redeem me from man's oppression, that I may keep your precepts.

You are the bulwark between me and the assaults of the Evil One in his attempts to suade me from following You with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. Help me, Lord, to keep Your precepts in accordance with Your Word.

Turn to me and be gracious to me, as is your way with those who love your name.

All Your promises, all Your favor is reserved to those who honor Your Name and are obedient to Your Word. Why cannot the world see and understand that? Those who expect Your favor while rejecting Your Word are doomed.

Keep steady my steps according to your promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me.

It is Your power that stands between me and the dominion of sin. Not in my own strength, Lord, but Yous and Yours alone. Keep my feet steady in the path of righteousness for Your namesake and all is well.

The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.

A comforting verse that tells me that there is a process leading to understanding, an unfolding step by step as I acquire understanding to apply the Word to my life. The coming as a little child.

I open my mouth and pant, because I long for your commandments.

Yes, Lord, I am anxious for the time when You commandments are fully recognized by all as the source of guiding wisdom for all life. I long. I pant, I hunger for that time and it is coming. Come, Lord Jesus, come.

Your testimonies are wonderful; therefore my soul keeps them.

Absolute beauty united with absolute functionality. To have access to these testimonies and to be provided with the ability to keep them, all sums up to absolute wonder and bliss.

Lord, You have infused me with a love and passion for Your Word. You have filled me with an indescribable joy when I come to the time allocated to the reading of Your Word each morning. You make my heart skip with anticipation whenever that opportunity arises to share Your Word with someone else. Praise You, my Lord and Master. Continue to reveal Yourself through the reading and study of Your Word.

How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Here's the answer! Here is the alternative to escapism! Here is reality rather than fantasy! It is the answer to those who escape through drugs and alcohol; to those who escape through fantasy mind games; to those who escape through violent and destructive behavior; it is the answer. Your Word leads all who heed it into pure and righteous lives; into lives in the Kingdom; into lives that are righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. You are Lord!

Lord, that my light would shine in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation. That I would lead a blameless and innocent life without grumbling or questioning. That I would bring glory to You in every word, in every action in every moment of my life fully demonstrating the transforming power of Your blood and the gift of the Holy Spirit as a guide within me.

Do good to Zion in your good pleasure; build up the walls of Jerusalem; then will you delight in right sacrifices, in burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings; then bulls will be offered on your altar.

Lord, I see another one of Your promises in these verses. They are telling me that as I am transformed more and more into Your image, the glorious righteousness, peace, and joy that is life in the Kingdom will accrue to me. I am living proof of that promise today and am anxiously awaiting its fulfillment.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

Lord, train me, discipline me, bring me to a state of a broken and contrite heart. This is another one of those areas where the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Open my lips so that my mouth will sing Your praises.
