Psalm 56:1-4

August 15, 2013

To the choirmaster: according to The Dove on Far-off Terebinths. A Miktam of David, when the Philistines seized him in Gath. Be gracious to me, O God, for man tramples on me; all day long an attacker oppresses me; my enemies trample on me all day long, for many attack me proudly. When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?

Lord, I need to trust in You and lean on You throughout this day. It promises to be very challenging in the prison this afternoon as we tackle a hard teaching, James 1:3-5. Equip Betty, Bill and I to carry the message to the men that You will support them and bring a Good resolution to their trials and tribulations but they must have faith that You will do so.

John 16:33

August 14, 2013

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world."

O, if I can only remember and trust that You have overcome the world. It is usually but not always in my head, but to get it into my heart where it will shape all my actions and inform all my decisions is another matter. I am so thankful that You continue to refine me and lead me in the Way I should go. Praise You, my Lord and Master.

Psalm 55:23

August 13, 2013

But you, O God, will cast them down into the pit of destruction; men of blood and treachery shall not live out half their days. But I will trust in you.

The evidence of a life which has been saved from perdition, is one that lives in the complete confidence that You will provide, that Your promises are Yea and Amen. My prayer, Lord Jesus, is that I be one of those lives that demonstrate the power of Your salvation.

Psalm 55:16-22

August 12, 2013

But I call to God, and the LORD will save me. (Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan, and he hears my voice. He redeems my soul in safety from the battle that I wage, for many are arrayed against me. God will give ear and humble them, he who is enthroned from of old, Selah because they do not change and do not fear God. My companion stretched out his hand against his friends; he violated his covenant. His speech was smooth as butter, yet war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords. Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.

Patience and prayer, prayer and patience. Waiting upon the Lord, casting my burden and waiting upon the Lord. Patience and prayer, prayer and patience.

Psalm 119:159,160

August 17, 2013

Consider how I love your precepts! Give me life according to your steadfast love.

Life according to Your steadfast love is the only life worth living. Nay, more than that it is the only life. All 'life' outside Your steadfast love is a weak and flabby knockoff of real life.

The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.

Pilate asked, “What is truth?” and the answer is—The totality of the Word of God. And truth will never change for each fragment of the Word of God is immutable and endures forever.

Psalm 119:158

August 16, 2013

I look at the faithless with disgust, because they do not keep your commands.

Romans 1:20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

Without excuse! Complete and final! No out available save the mercy of God the Father.

Psalm 119:157

August 15, 2013

Many are my persecutors and my adversaries, but I do not swerve from your testimonies.

My persecutors and adversaries are my own fears and lack of trust. It is Your testimonies and promises that sustain me and keep me testifying to Your faithfulness and goodness.

Psalm 119:156

August 14, 2013

Great is your mercy, O LORD; give me life according to your rules.

Why do I kick against the Rules? They are not onerous, but are right and generous, all demonstrating Your dictum to love You with all my heart, mind, soul and strength and my neighbor as myself with the promise of a life characterized by righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. How can anyone find that offensive? Why is mercy necessary to bring me into that life? Only my stubbornness and refusal to recognize that I am not a god.

Psalm 119:155

August 13, 2013

Salvation is far from the wicked, for they do not seek your statutes.

The Great Commission calls me to make disciples and that is a two-step process. Step 1 is to introduce a person to Christ, to lead them to a commitment to follow You faithfully is all aspects of their life. Step 2 is to teach them day by day what them means and how to live up to the covenant that they have entered into.

Psalm 119:153, 154

August 12, 2013

Look on my affliction and deliver me, for I do not forget your law.

LORD, God Almighty, You know that I am discouraged about the state of the church in SSCF, but I come to You pleading for You to bring encouragement and confirmation of the rightness of our ministry there.

Plead my cause and redeem me; give me life according to your promise!

Transform me, Lord, into Your likeness for in there is life everlasting. Deliver me from the sins and corruption of the old man into the righteousness and holiness of the new man.

Lord, it is through the continuous pouring of Your Word into my heart that fuels the continuous transformation of my heart, soul, conscience and mind. Then it is the seeking to pray without ceasing that keeps the embers burning and brings Your Word to the forefront of my mind to guide me and keep me on the King's Highway as I travel through the Kingdom of Heaven on my way to that final meeting place with You.
