Hebrews 4:14-16

September 18, 2013

Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Lord, when things don't go to suit me, when the world seems upside down, it is not time to smile away my troubles, as Grandpa used to sing, but it turn to You and trust You in all circumstances.

September 17, 2013

O God, have heard my vows; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name. Prolong the life of the king; may his years endure to all generations! May he be enthroned forever before God; appoint steadfast love and faithfulness to watch over him! So will I ever sing praises to your name, as I perform my vows day after day.

I have given a vow before You and before these men that I serve to be faithful to You, to adhere to Your Word and to walk according to Your Law. This can only be accomplished through the wisdom, power and discernment of the Holy Spirit that has been given to me as a guarantee of Your love and salvation.

To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. Of David. Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I,

Lord, as I am about to be ordained as the pastor of two prison congregations, help me to keep focused on You, always concerned about serving the flocks You have called me to. Guide me, Lord, keep me humble, contrite before You and willing to wash any dirty feet you put before me.

Galatians 6:9-10

September 13, 2013

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

A calling to serve, not just to serve but to serve with enthusiasm and joy. It is not a calling with a burden, but a calling in the recognition that I am following in the steps of my Lord. A privilege to serve the household of faith, a doorkeeper in the House of the Lord.

September 12, 2013

Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go forth, O God, with our armies. Oh, grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man! With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes.

Lord, we must turn to You; we must abandon all our programs and seek You with all our heart, mind, soul and strength. You are the One who can bring us out of this Slough of Despond into the glorious light of the Kingdom. Lord, rescue Your Church.

Psalm 60:4-8

September 11, 2013

You have set up a banner for those who fear you, that they may flee to it from the bow. Selah That your beloved ones may be delivered, give salvation by your right hand and answer us! God has spoken in his holiness: "With exultation I will divide up Shechem and portion out the Vale of Succoth. Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet; Judah is my scepter. Moab is my washbasin; upon Edom I cast my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph."

Lord, Your Church is called to make disciples as they go about their daily living; we are called to live as ambassadors in a foreign land to work for the advancement of the Kingdom of Heaven in the here and now. Light the spark of that first love, the rabid exultation of the realization of Your love and mercy. Give us once again, the fire to proclaim Your love without counting the cost. Bring true revival to Your Church.

Psalm 60:1-3

September 10, 2013

To the choirmaster: according to Shushan Eduth. A Miktam of David; for instruction; when he strove with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and when Joab on his return struck down twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt. O God, you have rejected us, broken our defenses; you have been angry; oh, restore us. You have made the land to quake; you have torn it open; repair its breaches, for it totters. You have made your people see hard things; you have given us wine to drink that made us stagger.

Lord, Your Church is a laughingstock among the ungodly, a source of derision for those who reject You. Yet we have no one to blame but ourselves—we are unfaithful, we seek to blend in with the crowd, we pick and choose those parts of Your Word to obey and those to ignore or blunt through our sophistry, we are a disobedient and rebellious people. Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved! (Psalms 80:3 )

Revelation 3:17-21

September 09, 2013

Revelation 3:17-21

For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.

Lord, You have given me this vision of revival being sparked by the Church gathered in the Springfield prison. How do You direct the implementation of this vision? Am I hindering it it some way? If so, discipline me. Am I not hearing? Send a deeper awareness of the Holy Spirit to me. Lord, open the eyes of my heart to Your glory.

Psalm 59:14-17

September 07, 2013

Each evening they come back, howling like dogs and prowling about the city. They wander about for food and growl if they do not get their fill. But I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress. O my Strength, I will sing praises to you, for you, O God, are my fortress, the God who shows me steadfast love.

You are my Strength, let Your praises be ever in my mouth and on my lips, let every action and deed bring glory to Your Name and shame to Your enemies. That I would be nothing but a conduit of Your power, love and mercy.
