Psalm 37:16-17

March 09, 2013

Better is the little that the righteous has than the abundance of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.

Far, far better is the life of righteousness, the life in the presence of the Lord with the assurance of life everlasting than the transient pleasures of the world. Ephemeral vs eternal, the choice is mine.

Psalm 37:15

March 08, 2013

The wicked plots against the righteous and gnashes his teeth at him, but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he sees that his day is coming. The wicked draw the sword and bend their bows to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose way is upright; their sword shall enter their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

The Day of Judgment is coming, the day in which every knee shall bow, every tongue confess that You are Lord. It will be a Day of Rejoicing for Your people, a Day of Vindication, but for those who have denied You and oppressed the poor and needy, a day of finality in which all ends.

Psalm 37:7-11

March 07, 2013

Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land. In just a little while, the wicked will be no more; though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there. But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.

Fret not and wait upon the Lord. Be anxious for nothing but in all things make your requests known to God through prayer and supplication with thanksgiving. The fruit of the Spirit is ..., patience, ... Those that wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, ... Wait, wait, wait for the Lord in His timing and all things will be added unto you. To become known as a man of patience is a mighty transformation.

Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.

Here is that thought of committing to the Lord, trusting in Him, obeying Him and the result is a display of His power and righteousness in my life.

Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Trust in You, walk according to Your Word in humility and seeking justice, find my delights in You and I will receive the very desires of my heart. And what are these desires? Not the material transient things of this world but the eternal knowing You, drawing into Your Presence with joy and thanksgiving, being with You into all eternity and as one of Your own sheep.

March 04, 2013

Of David. Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb.

Words of reminder. I need to focus on my walk and my obedience, on the blessing You provide, to give thanks in all circumstances not carping about the material rewards enjoyed by those who are still in this life. My great reward is to to know You, the LORD, God Almighty and Your Son, Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it.

Your commandments are the verges of the King's Highway; clearly delineating the route of my walk in Your presence. How can I not delight in that path? How can I not revel in the peace and joy that I find there? Thank You and praise You, Lord, for You deliver goodness to me.

Romans 8:9-11

March 02, 2013

You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

The indwelling Spirit is life, life everlasting. It is God the Spirit who brings me into eternal relationship with God the Father and God the Son. It is God the Spirit who guides the transformation from the old man into a being fashioned in the image of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It is God the Spirit who enables me to discern the will of God, the good and acceptable and perfect will of God for my life. It is God the Spirit who creates in me the power to live out that good and acceptable and perfect will. God the Spirit, my comforter and my guide. Hallelujah.

Romans 8:5-8

March 01, 2013

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. (6) For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. (7) For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. (8) Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

What does it mean to "set the mind on the Spirit?" Is it not to live according to 1 Thessalonian 5:16-18? To rejoice always, pray without ceasing and give thanks to God in all circumstances? Will this not keep my focus on the Spirit and on the way of life? It will, it will indeed. It does, it does indeed. Praise the LORD Most High.

Romans 8:1-4

February 28, 2013

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

The Law of the Spirit of Life--what a beautiful and precious phrase. I am free, free from sin, free from death, free to live in the Kingdom as a disciple of Jesus Christ. I am free, free indeed.

Psalm 36:10-12

February 27, 2013

Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who know you, and your righteousness to the upright of heart! Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away. There the evildoers lie fallen; they are thrust down, unable to rise.

Lord, it is so easy for me to become arrogant in my salvation, to become self-righteous and aloof towards to whom I regard as less "godly" than me. Help me, Lord, guide me into godly humility and a contrite spirit.

Morning: Psalm 134

Mid-day: 119:17-24

Evening: Psalm 59

Psalm 36:5-9

February 26, 2013

Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judgments are like the great deep; man and beast you save, O LORD. How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light.

Lord, what a beautiful and complete statement of Your love for Your children. You are indeed the fountain of life, bringing peace and joy, providing light (understanding) to all aspects of my life. You are the One I cling to.
