Psalm 98:4-6

October 07, 2011

Psalm 98:4-6

Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises! Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody! With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the LORD!

Lord, how is that all the peoples of the earth are not breaking out into joyous song? Not even those who claim to be Your people? Four so-called praise choruses at the beginning of a Sunday morning service does not constitute this breaking out in joyous song; it should be an eruption of joy; a paean of praise; a shout of thanksgiving; a recital of Your Goodness and Love. Pour out Your Spirit upon Your people.

Psalm 98:1-3

October 06, 2011

Psalm 98:1-3

A Psalm. Oh sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. The LORD has made known his salvation; he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations. He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

Your plan of salvation, put into place before the beginning of the world, known to You throughout the ages, carefully crafted and orchestrated to accomplish Your purpose of demonstrating Your glory and Goodness, is being revealed day by day as the Kingdom advances. Your plan of salvation will not be impeded or diverted, You are triumphant.

Revelation 22:12-17

October 05, 2011

Revelation 22:12-17

"Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay everyone for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star." The Spirit and the Bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.

The Day of Judgment! The day when the great sorting takes place to separate the wheat from the tares. It is a “not yet,” the invitation is still open to any who choose to accept. But it is the culmination of history, The LORD's purpose will be accomplished and His plan for the redemption of His creation will be complete.

Psalm 97:10b-12

October 04, 2011

Psalm 97:10b-12

He preserves the lives of his saints; he delivers them from the hand of the wicked. Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart. Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name!

Lord, there is protection promised through the preservation of the lives of Your people and through the deliverance from evil. That is good, but then there is the additional blessings of light and joy. We no longer walk in darkness but in the light of Your word, we no longer live in despair but in joy and peace. We are secure.

Psalm 97:7-10a

October 03, 2011

Psalm 97:7-10a

All worshipers of images are put to shame, who make their boast in worthless idols; worship him, all you gods! Zion hears and is glad, and the daughters of Judah rejoice, because of your judgments, O LORD. For you, O LORD, are most high over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods. O you who love the LORD, hate evil!

And now all the worthless idols will turn to You in worship, declaring Your Goodness. Your people will rejoice in Your great victory over evil, the final erasure of the scarring of Your glorious creation caused by man's self-will. Finally we will understand the depths of Your disgust and hatred of the harm we caused.

October 02, 2011

Psalm 119:171-172

My lips will pour forth praise, for you teach me your statutes. My tongue will sing of your word, for all your commandments are right.

I will sing of my Redeemer
And his wondrous love to me;
On the cruel cross he suffered,
From the curse to set me free.

Sing, O sing of my Redeemer!
With his blood he purchased me;
On the cross he sealed my pardon,
Paid the debt and made me free.

Psalm 97:1-6

October 01, 2011

Psalm 97:1-6

The LORD reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad! (2) Clouds and thick darkness are all around him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. (3) Fire goes before him and burns up his adversaries all around. (4) His lightnings light up the world; the earth sees and trembles. (5) The mountains melt like wax before the LORD, before the Lord of all the earth. (6) The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory.

Lord, the picture of process of the revelation of Your righteousness is graphic and compelling. The shaking of the very foundations of the earth as Your righteousness and justice sweep all evil and decay before it. Mountains melting like wax; lightning flashing and threshing; the earth shaking and trembling. It will not be a time of terror but of rejoicing by Your creation. Beautiful!

Ephesians 5:1-14

September 30, 2011

Ephesians 5:1-14

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not become partners with them; for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), (10) and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, "Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."

It is all wrapped up together: obedience, Kingdom living, spiritual transformation, Christlikeness, the new man in Christ, discipleship, walking as children of the light, … It all comes down to that transformation of the mind through the power and working of the Holy Spirit. Lord, guide Your people, it is time for the cleansing fire of revival, the revealing light of the love of Christ.

Psalm 96:11-13

September 29, 2011

Psalm 96:11-13

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy before the LORD, for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness, and the peoples in his faithfulness.

All this rejoicing and all from various parts of the Creation. Rejoicing that You are returning to judge the world; judge those whom You set in dominion over that very Creation now rejoicing that the Day of Judgment has come. It is the Day of Retribution and Restoration. The Day When Righteousness Rules. The Day when all of Creation cries out that the great injustice done to it by the wilfulness of man has been rectified and healed. What a glorious day that will be.

Psalm 96:10

September 28, 2011

Psalm 96:10

Say among the nations, "The LORD reigns! Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved; he will judge the peoples with equity."

The Lord reigns! Colossians 1:16-17 For by him ALL things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-- ALL things were created through him and for him.  And he is before ALL things, and in him ALL things hold together.

You reign over ALL things, not just directing and issuing orders, but doing at the the most minute level of creation; holding together, moving and causing to be and move. You are not a god who begins and walks away, but a Sovereign God who is present in every aspect of Your creation. An immanent Lord and Master.

Psalm 96:4-9

September 27, 2011

Psalm 96:4-9

For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength! Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts! Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth!

What is my offering today?

Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Isaiah 58:6-8 "Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? (7) Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh? (8) Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up speedily; your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.

Romans 12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Psalm 96:1-3

Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth! Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!

This is my task today, to declare Your glory among the nations and to point out Your marvelous works among all the peoples. My personal mission field is already scheduled to be wide and varied; Lord, that I would be obedient to You.
