Ephesians 5:15-17

August 20, 2011

Ephesians 5:15-17

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, (16) making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. (17) Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Colossians 3:23-24

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, (24) knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

Lord, two powerful passages to lead me and necessary reminders. It is so easy for me to get distracted and fill my life with unproductive activities. Activities that are unproductive because they are not in Your will or because I have not followed Your leading in what I do and have done my assignment sloppily. Help me, Lord, to seek Your will in all things and then to work heartily, as unto You.

August 19, 2011

Psalm 89:49-52

Lord, where is your steadfast love of old, which by your faithfulness you swore to David? (50) Remember, O Lord, how your servants are mocked, and how I bear in my heart the insults of all the many nations, (51) with which your enemies mock, O LORD, with which they mock the footsteps of your anointed. (52) Blessed be the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.

Lord, what will it take to bring revival? I know that there are faithful pockets lifting up the remnant constantly, not just occasionally, but constantly. Your Church in the West is being covered in prayer, calling for revival, for an outpouring of the Spirit, for a renewal of will and dedication to the Kingdom. Why are You not answering? Or are You and we are not listening?

August 18, 2011

Psalm 89:46-48

How long, O LORD? Will you hide yourself forever? How long will your wrath burn like fire?Remember how short my time is! For what vanity you have created all the children of man! What man can live and never see death? Who can deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah

Will You bring revival before You return again or will Your church, the Western church, continue its disastrous slide into apostasy right up to the end? Yet, Lord, there are the faithful who cry out to You daily to bring revival to Your Church, answer those prays, Lord, renew Your Church in this land.

Psalm 89:38-45

August 17, 2011

Psalm 89:38-45

But now you have cast off and rejected; you are full of wrath against your anointed. (39) You have renounced the covenant with your servant; you have defiled his crown in the dust. (40) You have breached all his walls; you have laid his strongholds in ruins. (41) All who pass by plunder him; he has become the scorn of his neighbors. (42) You have exalted the right hand of his foes; you have made all his enemies rejoice. (43) You have also turned back the edge of his sword, and you have not made him stand in battle. (44) You have made his splendor to cease and cast his throne to the ground. (45) You have cut short the days of his youth; you have covered him with shame. Selah

Lord, Your people have rejected Your Word, they have disgraced You by following false Gods, they bring shame to Your name and scorn to Your Law. Awaken us, O Lord to the enormity of our sin, the stench of our behavior; bring us to our knees and cover us once again with the joy of Your salvation.

August 16, 2011

Psalm 89:30-37

If his children forsake my law and do not walk according to my rules, if they violate my statutes and do not keep my commandments, then I will punish their transgression with the rod and their iniquity with stripes, (33) but I will not remove from him my steadfast love or be false to my faithfulness. I will not violate my covenant or alter the word that went forth from my lips. Once for all I have sworn by my holiness; I will not lie to David. His offspring shall endure forever, his throne as long as the sun before me. Like the moon it shall be established forever, a faithful witness in the skies." Selah

Lord, bring revival to Your Church. Cover us with a heavy blanket of repentance. Bring the Church in this country to its knees, crying out to You for a renewed sensing of the Spirit within them. Bring repentance, Lord, bring repentance.

Psalm 89:19-29

August 15, 2011

Psalm 89:19-29

Of old you spoke in a vision to your godly one, and said: "I have granted help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people. I have found David, my servant; with my holy oil I have anointed him, so that my hand shall be established with him; my arm also shall strengthen him. The enemy shall not outwit him; the wicked shall not humble him. I will crush his foes before him and strike down those who hate him. My faithfulness and my steadfast love shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted. I will set his hand on the sea and his right hand on the rivers. He shall cry to me, 'You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.' (27) And I will make him the firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth. My steadfast love I will keep for him forever, and my covenant will stand firm for him. I will establish his offspring forever and his throne as the days of the heavens.

Lord in You is revealed all that was foretold through David. Your kingdom is established, it is advancing against the wicked and Shalom is being restored throughout the land. All creation sings Your praises, the very rocks and trees declare Your mighty hand. You are King and Ruler of creation, the Lamb of God who took away the sin of the world. Praise You, Lord Jesus.

My morning devotions have included Jeremiah who though speaking forcefully to Israel and Judea, also had us in view.  One cannot read his prophecy without without being convicted of the state of our churches today.  I felt that the Lord was asking me to write the following prayer as a plea to His Church to come to their knees, confessing their sin in accepting the Spirit of the Age in their midst.

Psalm 119:81

July 17, 2011

Psalm 119:81

My soul longs for your salvation; I hope in your word.

I do long for that promised fullness of joy, that total realization of Your Presence. I do hope for that time when Your Word will be in complete control of my life. Psalm 84:5-7

Blessed are those whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion. As they go through the Valley of Baca they make it a place of springs; the early rain also covers it with pools. They go from strength to strength; each one appears before God in Zion.

I know that You are ever with me. I know that Your love sustains me. I know that Your Holy Spirit guides me into all truth. I know that in Your presence is fullness of joy. I know that to know You is life eternal. O, Lord, praise You for I know You; You are my King!

Psalm 84:3-4

Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, at your altars, O LORD of hosts, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house, ever singing your praise! Selah

I am the temple of the Living God! I am the house of the Lord! I am the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit! I am blessed by the Presence! From me issues the River of Living Water! Through me are all peoples of the earth blessed! Praise You, LORD, God Almighty.

To the choirmaster: according to The Gittith. A Psalm of the Sons of Korah. How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD of hosts! My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.

Bring Your people home. We long to be in the courts of Your kingdom, released from this life to enter fully into Your presence. Yet, while we await Your coming, guide us into the joys of the Kingdom now, fill us with living water, overflowing bathes all around us.

Matthew 28:18-2

July 13, 2011

Matthew 28:18-20

And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. (19) Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Hebrews 13:5

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

Be content with what I have! Now there is a hard saying, it forces me to not only be satisfied with material things but with status, with family and friends; it should cause me to closely examine all my ambitions to see if they are of You or something to enhance my pride. Every aspect of my life must come under the lens of this promise. Do I really have the faith to trust that You will never leave me nor forsake me?
