Psalm 72:5-7

December 11, 2013

May they fear you while the sun endures, and as long as the moon, throughout all generations! May he be like rain that falls on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth! In his days may the righteous flourish, and peace abound, till the moon be no more!

I pray for an end to the divisiveness that is tearing this nation apart; I pray for a spirit of comprise and for a willingness to seek solutions to the problems of this nation that serve all interests well.

Psalm 72:1-4

December 10, 2013

Of Solomon. Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness to the royal son! May he judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice! Let the mountains bear prosperity for the people, and the hills, in righteousness! May he defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the children of the needy, and crush the oppressor!

I lift up the President of the United Sates and his cabinet, the members of the Congress, and the Supreme Court. Fill them with an understanding and desire to bring Your justice and Your righteousness to be the foundation of all the laws and regulations of this land.

1 Timothy 2:1-4

December 09, 2013

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

This is a difficult but necessary teaching in these days marked by political turmoil and fierce division at every level of society. I am called to be in prayer for all who are in positions of authority; yes that I might lead a quiet and peaceful life, but... Far more important is my witness that will draw ALL PEOPLE to be saved, that will bring all to the knowledge of the truth.

December 08, 2013

Let your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts.

Your hand does help me, even when I do not recognize it or acknowledge it. And even in my disobedience, You are there, calling to me to turn to You and reenter that place of joy, peace and righteousness that is life in the Kingdom.

Psalm 71:22-24

December 07, 2013

I will also praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praises to you with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel. My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have redeemed. And my tongue will talk of your righteous help all the day long, for they have been put to shame and disappointed who sought to do me hurt.

Lord, my complete being must sing Your praises with every means available. I do not play the harp or lyre, any musical instrument is beyond me, but I cn praise you with my hands, with my feet, with my tongue; all day long magnifying Your Holy Name.

Psalm 71:19-21

December 06, 2013

Your righteousness, O God, reaches the high heavens. You who have done great things, O God, who is like you? You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again. You will increase my greatness and comfort me again.

It is difficult to understand that You have a purpose in bringing many troubles and calamities to my attention; that this is for my own growth to draw me closer to You; to learn to depend upon You and upon You alone.

Psalm 71:17-18

December 05, 2013

O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds. So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come.

Will I leave a legacy? Yes, every man does. Will that legacy honor You as Grandpa Spence's legacy has done? Not so far.

Lord, give me boldness to declare Your might to another generation.

December 04, 2013

But I will hope continually and will praise you yet more and more. My mouth will tell of your righteous acts, of your deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is past my knowledge. With the mighty deeds of the Lord GOD I will come; I will remind them of your righteousness, yours alone.

To recognize the many evidences of Your righteousness, to see Your deeds of salvation, to tell of Your righteous acts must be the continuous outpouring of my mouth. But it is not—help me Lord.

December 03, 2013

O God, be not far from me; O my God, make haste to help me! May my accusers be put to shame and consumed; with scorn and disgrace may they be covered who seek my hurt.

Lord, when I stray, send Your faithful to call me to task; to hold me accountable to You and to Your Law. Do not let me forget that it is Your Word and Your Word alone that guides my every step.

December 02, 2013

Do not cast me off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength is spent. For my enemies speak concerning me; those who watch for my life consult together and say, "God has forsaken him; pursue and seize him, for there is none to deliver him."

Lord, as my life winds down, don't let me lose my passion for You and for all You have done for me. Keep me declaring You until my last breath.

December 01, 2013

Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous rules.

Here is an area that I fail in; continuous praise and adoration. I put aside this time in the morning, but then get involved with my day, not setting aside periods to praise and worship You and to reflect on Your word. I am a failure, I need the power of the Holy Spirit to transform and enable me. Help me, Lord.

November 30, 2013

I have been as a portent to many, but you are my strong refuge. My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day.

Yes, I am told from time to time that I am someone's example and that scares me. I know my flaws and weaknesses and I know how much I have to turn to You. You are my strong refuge and my prayer must be that I am able to point them to You.
